Transportation:

  • Public Transport: Trams, buses and second-class trains are free across the whole country, so no ticket is needed. First class on trains is paid.
  • Walking: The city center is compact and easily explored on foot.
  • Tourist Card: Consider the Luxembourg Card (sold as the LuxembourgPass) for free or reduced entry to sights. It does not include transport, which is already free in second class.

Public tours run only in summer (18 Jul to 30 Aug in 2026, adult EUR 18, child 4-12 EUR 9, starting from the tourist office on Place Guillaume II); the rest of the year admire it from outside, then learn about the city’s history at the adjacent Musée d’Histoire de la Ville de Luxembourg.
  • Lunch (12:30 PM): Enjoy a traditional Luxembourgish lunch at “Brasserie Schuman”, known for its authentic cuisine and cozy atmosphere.
