Solomon Islands Itinerary: 3 Days of Island Adventure
Things to Know:

Day 1: Honiara & WWII History

- Evening: Enjoy a meal with fresh seafood at a local restaurant along the waterfront.
Things to Do:
- World War II Sites: Visit the Solomon Islands Memorials for American and Japanese soldiers who lost their lives during WWII. The Honiara area was a major battleground, and remnants of bunkers and fortifications can still be seen.
Day 2: Guadalcanal & Island Paradise
- Morning: Take a guided tour to Guadalcanal, the site of some of the fiercest battles in WWII’s Pacific Theatre. Explore the Henderson Field airfield ruins and pay respects at the US Marines Memorial.
- Afternoon: Relax on the pristine beaches of Guadalcanal, enjoy snorkeling or diving in crystal-clear waters teeming with marine life.
Things to Do:
- Visit Matanikau River: This river played a crucial role during the Guadalcanal campaign. Take a boat trip and enjoy the beautiful scenery.
- Experience Local Culture: Visit a traditional village and learn about the customs and traditions of the Solomon Islanders.
Day 3: Munda & Diving Paradise
- Morning: Fly from Honiara to Munda on New Georgia Island, renowned for its world-class diving. Check into your accommodation near the coast.
- Afternoon: Embark on a scuba diving or snorkeling adventure and explore vibrant coral reefs, shipwrecks, and diverse marine life.
Things to Do:
- Visit Skull Island: This island is named for the World War II Japanese skull collection found there. It’s a sobering reminder of the conflict’s brutality.
- Explore Kolombangara Volcano: Hike up this active volcano (with local guides) for breathtaking views of the surrounding islands.
Other Points of Interest:
- Gizo Island: Known for its stunning lagoons and WWII wreck sites, Gizo offers exceptional diving and snorkeling experiences.
- Marovo Lagoon: This vast lagoon is home to over 70 islands and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Enjoy kayaking, stand-up paddleboarding, or simply relax on pristine beaches.
