Uganda: A 7-Day Wildlife Adventure

Welcome to the Pearl of Africa! This itinerary focuses on experiencing Uganda’s incredible biodiversity and stunning landscapes.

Visa Requirements: Most nationalities require a visa to enter Uganda. You can obtain this online (e-visa) before your trip or upon arrival at Entebbe International Airport. Ensure your passport has at least six months validity remaining.

Transportation: Domestic flights are available for long distances, but for the full experience, consider hiring a 4x4 vehicle with a driver. This allows flexibility and access to remote areas.

Currency: The Ugandan Shilling (UGX) is the local currency. US dollars are widely accepted, but it’s best to have some shillings on hand for smaller purchases.

Health: Consult your doctor about necessary vaccinations and malaria prophylaxis. Pack insect repellent with DEET and consider a mosquito net for sleeping.

Day 1: Arrival in Entebbe & Lakeside Relaxation

  • Arrive at Entebbe International Airport (EBB).
  • Transfer to your hotel on the shores of Lake Victoria.
  • Relax, enjoy the lake views, and settle into Uganda’s tranquil pace.
  • Optional: Visit the Uganda Wildlife Education Centre for an introduction to local fauna.

Day 2: Chimpanzee Trekking in Kibale Forest

  • Fly or drive to Kibale National Park (around 5 hours from Entebbe).
  • Embark on a guided chimpanzee trekking experience. Witness these intelligent primates in their natural habitat.
  • Optional: Explore the Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary for birdwatching and primate encounters.

Day 3: Queen Elizabeth National Park - Wildlife Safari

  • Drive to Queen Elizabeth National Park, renowned for its diverse wildlife (around 4 hours).
  • Enjoy an afternoon game drive, searching for elephants, lions, leopards, buffaloes, and more.
  • Evening: Relax at your lodge or campsite, listening to the sounds of the African bush.

Day 4: Kazinga Channel Boat Safari & Tree Climbing Lions

  • Take a boat safari along the Kazinga Channel, observing hippos, crocodiles, and abundant birdlife.
  • In the afternoon, search for the unique tree-climbing lions of Ishasha in the southern part of the park.
  • Optional: Enjoy a night game drive for a chance to see nocturnal animals.

Day 5: Murchison Falls National Park - Waterfalls & Wildlife

  • Drive to Murchison Falls National Park, home to the powerful Murchison Falls (around 4 hours).
  • Take a boat trip to the base of the falls, experiencing the thundering waters up close.
  • Afternoon: Enjoy a game drive along the Nile River banks, spotting elephants, giraffes, lions, and diverse birdlife.

Day 6: Rhino Tracking & Relaxation

  • Visit Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary, a protected area where endangered rhinos are bred and reintroduced into the wild.
  • Track rhinos on foot with experienced rangers for an unforgettable encounter.
  • Spend the afternoon relaxing at your lodge or exploring nearby Murchison Falls National Park trails.

Day 7: Departure from Entebbe

  • Drive back to Entebbe International Airport (around 5-6 hours) for your departure flight.

  • Uganda Martyrs Shrine Namugongo: A significant religious site commemorating the Ugandan martyrs.
  • Kasubi Tombs: UNESCO World Heritage Site, burial grounds of Buganda kings.
  • Source of the Nile: Visit the point where the world’s longest river begins its journey.
  • Jinja: Adrenaline capital for white-water rafting, kayaking, and bungee jumping.
