Adventure Tours Mandalay Region
Travel advisory: The US advises against all travel to Myanmar. The UK advises against all but essential travel to Mandalay, and against all travel to Sagaing and the area north of Mandalay city. Conflict, drone attacks, curfews and internet cut-offs persist, and the March 2025 earthquake left many of the area’s sites damaged. Check the US State Department and UK FCDO before making any plans.
Adventure Tours in Mandalay Region
No organised adventure tours in Mandalay Region can be verified. Under current official advice, independent excursions are unsuitable, and the area north of Mandalay city and all of Sagaing Region fall under the UK’s advice against all travel.
Places the region is known for
- Sagaing Hill is known for its pagodas and monasteries. It lies in Sagaing Region, and the Soon U Ponnya Shin pagoda was damaged in the earthquake.
- Amarapura was an ancient capital. Its current condition is unconfirmed since the earthquake.
- Mingun is reached by boat from Mandalay and lies in Sagaing Region. The Pahtodawgyi is damaged and closed to climbing.
