Couple Activities Mandalay

Travel advisory: Washington advises Americans not to travel to Myanmar for any reason, while the UK government advises against all but essential travel to Mandalay and against all travel to Sagaing Region and the townships north of the city. Armed conflict, drone strikes, curfews and communications blackouts are ongoing, and the March 2025 earthquake damaged many historic sites. Check the US State Department and UK FCDO before making any plans.

Under current official advice, Mandalay is not a place to plan a couples’ trip. Visitors face armed conflict, curfews, checkpoints and unreliable banking and internet, and conditions can change quickly.

The city was historically known for its former royal palace, its teak monasteries, its craft districts and a busy tea-shop culture. Whether any of these places are open to visitors today cannot be confirmed, so none of them should be treated as an option for couples.
