Three ways to a cheaper Broadway ticket
TKTS booths (Duffy Square, Lincoln Center, and South Street Seaport) sell that day’s unsold inventory at 20-50% off face value, plus an $8-per-ticket service charge. The board rotates through the day, and matinee and evening inventory post separately, so a 10am check tells you nothing about tonight’s list. Digital lotteries run per show, most major productions have one, and typically draw winners the day of or the day before for $40-60 seats, with a short window to pay once you win. Some rooms are upfront about it as a built-in cover charge rather than a surprise. If a no-minimum night matters more to you than the marquee name on stage, ask before you sit down, since the policy varies club to club and is rarely printed on the ticket itself. Chelsea Market, Time Out Market DUMBO, Essex Market, and the various Urbanspace locations work as a grazing itinerary on their own, roughly $12-20 a dish across a dozen small vendors instead of one sit-down check.
