Jaipur India Day Trips: 2 Days on a Budget

Two days from Jaipur, on a budget, means picking exactly one trip and giving it both days: the Ranthambore tiger safari, roughly INR 3500-4200 ($36-44) per person per session, the single biggest cost in this whole family of trips. Skip Pushkar, Ajmer, Abhaneri and Bhangarh for now, one rushed safari session is a worse use of two days than two properly spaced ones. Leave Jaipur early for the 180-200km drive southeast to Ranthambore National Park, 3.5 to 4 hours by road. Rajasthan Tourism’s Ranthambore page has the official park overview. Check into budget lodging near the park gate rather than a pricier resort closer to the entrance. Take the afternoon or evening safari in a shared 6-seat Gypsy jeep, roughly INR 3500-4200 ($36-44) per seat since the 1 April 2026 fee hike, confirm current pricing before booking. One session is one shot at a tiger sighting, sightings are never guaranteed either way.

Day 2: Second Safari, Return to Jaipur

Take the early-morning safari in a different zone from the evening before if your booking allows it, different zones favor different tigers, and stacking two sessions across one overnight meaningfully beats a single rushed drive; it barely changes your total cost since you were paying for the overnight regardless. Head back to Jaipur after the safari, 3.5 to 4 hours by road, arriving with the afternoon free.

Is a single Ranthambore day trip ever worth it instead of this 2-day plan?

Rarely, on a budget trip especially. A compressed one-day version exists, a pre-dawn departure, one safari, a late-night return, but it burns close to 16 hours on the road and in the park for one session, at nearly the same safari cost as the two-session plan above. Paying for a second session instead of a second round trip is the better use of the same money.
