Málaga in 4 Days on a Budget (Daily Costs)

4 days: city core, then the Alhambra and a gorge walk
Four days is where Málaga earns a longer stay: two days for the city, then the two biggest day trips, Granada’s Alhambra and the Caminito del Rey. Both need timed tickets that sell out, so book them before anything else. Budget roughly 30-70 euros a day beyond your room, with the Granada day the priciest. The 3-day plan is the shorter version; the 5-day plan adds Córdoba.

Day 1: The Moorish and Roman core
Free Roman Theatre first, then the combined Alcazaba and Gibralfaro ticket (about 5.50 euros, verify) and the walk up the linked wall to the castle terrace. Down to the Cathedral, “La Manquita,” and a tapas lunch in the old town. Tip: use the free footpath beside the Alcazaba up to Gibralfaro rather than paying twice.
Day 2: Picasso, Soho and the beach
Morning on Picasso, the Casa Natal birthplace on the Plaza de la Merced and the Museo Picasso Málaga (about 12 euros, verify). Afternoon in Soho, the arts district with the free MAUS murals and Antonio Banderas’s Teatro del Soho, then east to Pedregalejo for an espeto on the sand. Tip: the Soho murals are free and change often, so wander the side streets rather than sticking to the main drag.
Day 3: Granada and the Alhambra
The Alhambra, the UNESCO-listed Nasrid palace-fortress, is roughly 1.5 to 2 hours from Málaga (verify the direct service). Timed tickets, around 19 euros, sell out days or weeks ahead on the official Patronato site (verify). Spend the rest of the day in the Albaicín, whose lanes and viewpoints are free. Tip: your Alhambra ticket has a fixed entry time for the Nasrid Palaces, be at that gate early, they do not let you in late.
Day 4: The Caminito del Rey
The Caminito del Rey, about an hour by road, is a 2.9-kilometre walkway over 100 metres above the gorge near El Chorro, reopened in 2015. The self-guided ticket is around 10 euros, timed online booking only (verify). Tip: wear proper shoes and book an early slot, the cliff face bakes by midday and there is no shade on the boardwalk.

Figure roughly 130-200 euros across the four days for tickets, transport and meals, plus your room. The Granada day is the single biggest line; the city days and the Caminito stay cheap.
