Sunset at Pointe Rauba Capeù
Where the Promenade des Anglais curves around the base of Castle Hill into Quai des États-Unis, this rocky point catches the entire sweep of the Baie des Anges as the sun goes down behind the Belle Époque facades. The hilltop holds ruins from the fortress Louis XIV’s troops demolished in 1706, plus a waterfall and a view, not a castle interior or an aviary.
Èze village at golden hour
Bus 82 from Nice reaches Èze village directly in about 35 minutes for the standard €1.70 fare; skip the train to Èze-sur-Mer, which leaves a 90-minute uphill hike instead of a short bus ride. The Jardin Exotique at the village summit holds cactus and succulent terraces with views stretching from Saint-Tropez to Italy, entry €8-10.
A quiet coastal walk
A 25-minute train ride from Nice reaches Cap d’Ail, where the Sentier des Douaniers runs along paved limestone cliffs between the secluded cove of Plage Mala and Plage Marquet on the Monaco border.
