Antalya for Couples: Mansions, Cliffs and Flames
Where couples can base themselves
The old town of Kaleiçi is the natural choice for a romantic stay. Cars are restricted inside the walls, the lanes run between Ottoman houses, and many terraces face the harbour. Two small hotels are listed as trading in 2026. Tuvana Hotel uses 18th-century mansions on Karanlık Sokak and has a pool that runs in season. RuinAdalia takes adults only, with 26 rooms in five restored mansions and a heated outdoor pool, though a few reviewers mention signs of wear. Read recent reviews before you commit.
The city also hosts the COP31 climate conference from 9 to 20 November 2026, which will strain hotel supply and traffic, so book early if your dates overlap.
A two-evening plan
First evening. Wander Kaleiçi at golden hour, then walk to Karaalioğlu Park. Its cliffs face the Gulf of Antalya and the Taurus peaks, it is free, and benches line the edge. Hıdırlık Tower, a Roman monument from the 1st or 2nd century AD, stands right beside the park and is viewed from outside. Finish with dinner at a Kaleiçi meyhane, where meze plates are shared and fish is priced by weight. Ask the per-kilo price before ordering.
Second evening. Take a short boat trip from the old harbour as the light fades. Some trips go east to Lower Düden, where the river drops about 40 m over a cliff into the sea. The fall is seen from the water, and no swimming is involved. Operators vary and prices are not fixed, so compare a few at the quay.
Outings for two
- Olympos Teleferik: a cable car up Mount Tahtalı to 2,365 m, around 57 km from the city. Sunrise and sunset rides run on set days between June and October, and the top is about 15 to 20 °C cooler than the shore. Check the timetable before planning, and ask the operator for the ticket price.
- Yanartaş: the Chimaera flames burn out of the hillside near Çıralı, about 80 km south. Climb for 30 to 45 minutes after dusk with a torch. Çıralı’s nesting beach is closed to the public at night in turtle season, in 2026 from 20:00 to 08:00 through September, but the hillside is open. Confirm the fee at the gate.
- Side: about 76 km east, the harbour-point temple area is a popular place to watch the sunset. The ancient site costs €7, or €10 with the museum.
- Phaselis: about 55 km south-west, with ruins and quiet harbours among pines for €10.
A hammam together
Many couples book a Turkish bath. At Sefa Hamam in Kaleiçi, expect a warm marble slab, a scrub with a coarse mitt and a soapy foam massage. Prices differ by package and season, so confirm before you go.
What to skip
The Tünektepe cable car is closed and will not give you the view. The Antalya Museum is also closed. The cliffs of Karaalioğlu Park give the best free view. Turkey’s travel warnings cover the Syrian and Iraqi border strips, far from Antalya.
Seasonal advice
April to June and September to October bring warm days without peak-summer heat. In July and August, plan outings for early morning or evening.
