Couples in Da Nang: River Cruises and Resorts
A romantic few days in Da Nang can be built around three parts of the day: slow mornings by the sea, a daytime outing, and evenings along the Han River. Costs are in Vietnamese dong (VND) and approximate, so check them before you book.
Mornings
Paddle at sunrise. Man Thai beach is the spot for early stand-up paddleboarding, and Danang Surf School at My Khe Beach offers board rental, lessons and SUP tours. A 90-minute surf lesson with an instructor and board runs about 650,000 to 850,000 VND. The sea is calm and the weather hot, at 30 to 36 degrees Celsius, from March to August. From September to December big swells and rip currents arrive, and lifeguards raise red flags that close My Khe to swimmers. In those months, pick a different morning plan.
Slow breakfast. Iced coffee costs about 25,000 to 50,000 VND, and a bowl of mi quang costs about 35,000 to 60,000 VND. Mi quang, wide turmeric noodles with only a little broth, is the local favourite and a good first meal.
Afternoons
Spa. A 60-minute herbal or hot stone massage in the An Thuong area costs about 350,000 to 600,000 VND each.
Golden Bridge by cable car. Sun World Ba Na Hills has the cable cars, the Golden Bridge and the French Village. The adult ticket is about 1,000,000 VND. It is a built resort and busy, so arrive early in the day and avoid heavy rain, which can pause the cables.
Hoi An. Hoi An is about 45 minutes south by road, with a private car at about 300,000 to 400,000 VND each way. Lantern-lit streets, yellow shophouses and the Japanese Covered Bridge fill the old town, and the heritage ticket is about 120,000 VND. A silk lantern workshop, about 100,000 to 150,000 VND, is a nice shared project.
Evenings
River cruise. A 45-minute Han River boat trip from Bach Dang Pier costs about 150,000 to 250,000 VND per person, and on Saturdays and Sundays at 21:00 the Dragon Bridge breathes fire and water. Boats give you the view without the soaking that comes with standing near the dragon’s head.
Seafood by the coast. The Vo Nguyen Giap road has live seafood restaurants, including Be Man and Nam Danh. Two people can spend about 1,200,000 to 2,500,000 VND on lobster, crab and clams, so agree prices per item before ordering.
Where to stay
The My Khe and An Thuong beach strip is walkable with cafes and bars, while the Son Tra side is quieter and has resorts, among them the InterContinental Danang Sun Peninsula Resort, which hosted APEC leaders in 2017. The steep Son Tra roads beyond the Linh Ung checkpoint ban automatic scooters, so go by taxi or private driver. Compare options on Booking.com .

Plan for March to August for beach mornings. Typhoon season peaks in October and November, so choose flexible bookings for those months.
