Family Days Out in Tashkent
Tashkent is an easy city for family travel if you plan around the heat and use the metro for long distances. The list below sorts the main options by how much energy they need. Prices are in Uzbek som (UZS), and cash helps at bazaars and small ticket desks.
Short outings
Tashkent Zoo. The zoo is in Yunusabad on Bogishamol Street and runs daily, with ticket offices open 08:00 to 17:00. A December 2025 notice listed 40,000 UZS for ages 16 and over and 25,000 UZS for ages 7 to 16, with under 7s free. Holiday periods can differ, so allow roughly 40,000 UZS per adult. Enjoy the animals from the path and skip any offer of rides, feeding or photographs with them.
Magic City. Entry to the park on Babur Street is free. Rides and the Magic Aquarium cost extra, with figures quoted from 100,000 UZS for the aquarium to about 190,000 UZS for a combined ticket. Open roughly 10:00 to 22:00. Ask at the gate for current rates.
Chorsu Bazaar. Children can watch bread, spices and dried fruit being sold under the blue dome. Go early and keep hold of small hands.
Underground adventure
The metro is fun for children. Kosmonavtlar station has a space theme, and Alisher Navoiy and Mustaqillik Maydoni have chandeliers. Photography is allowed, bags are screened at entry, and a ride costs 2,500 UZS by card or 3,000 UZS in cash.
Longer days out
Chimgan and Amirsoy. The mountains north-east of the city offer the Beldersay cable car at Chimgan and gondolas at Amirsoy. Budget 1.5 to 2 hours each way. The cable car does not always run on weekdays. At Charvak reservoir, keep children close to shore in shallow water; lifeguards cannot be assumed.
Parkent solar furnace. The Big Solar Furnace, about 45 km away, is visited with an operator and includes a staircase to the viewing deck. It suits older children and takes most of a day.
Culture stops that work with children
The Center of Islamic Civilization, which opened in March 2026, has interactive displays and an audio guide in several languages. A foreign child ticket is USD 20, and children under 7 enter free. Keep voices low around Hazrati Imam Square, which is an active place of worship.
