Marrakech With Kids: Real Family Options

Kids get tired of ruins faster than adults do, so a Marrakech trip with children works better built around a couple of active, real anchors than a checklist of palaces.
Oasiria Water Park
Open seasonally from early April to the start of November, 10am-6pm daily, with 11 slides across 15 attractions and 8 pools. Adult admission runs 240 MAD in April and 300 MAD from May through October, child admission roughly 160-200 MAD depending on the month, and a shuttle is included. Check current Oasiria opening dates before you plan a day around it outside season.
La Perle aux Oiseaux
A working animal rescue sanctuary on the city’s outskirts, roughly three hectares and home to around 600 rescued animals, birds, small mammals and reptiles among them, run by a husband-and-wife team with an educational, rescue-first framing rather than a spectacle one. See current visitor information before you go.
ANIMA Garden
A genuine, currently operating sculpture-and-botanical garden in the Ourika Valley, about 30km out, created by Austrian artist André Heller across three hectares with Atlas Mountain views: landscaped grounds, contemporary sculpture, and exotic planting, with a resident tortoise among the more notable wildlife. Confirm current ANIMA Garden details directly.
Camel rides in the Palmeraie
A short, close-in ride through the palm groves just outside the city, genuinely different from a multi-day Sahara camel trek. The Palmeraie is a palm oasis, not sand dunes, so don’t expect a desert crossing from this one.
If the kids want lions and tigers
Rabat, Morocco’s capital, has the country’s one zoo with big cats and giraffes, about 320km north of Marrakech, a separate trip rather than a city add-on and realistically a day of driving each way on its own. For a Marrakech stay, the sanctuary and garden above are the real, closer options that fit inside a normal day’s schedule.
Verdict: pair Oasiria with a rest day if you’re travelling in peak summer heat, and treat La Perle aux Oiseaux and ANIMA Garden as a single half-day out toward Ourika rather than two separate trips. Search family-friendly Marrakech activities on GetYourGuide or browse Palmeraie camel rides on Viator . The Marrakech romantic getaways guide covers the adults-only version of this same city.
