Two of Memphis’s biggest annual events have solid 2026 dates locked in, one is genuinely uncertain, and the free daily show at the Peabody Hotel needs no calendar at all. Here’s what’s actually confirmed, cheapest first, and the one you shouldn’t plan a trip around yet.
RiverBeat Music Festival, May 1-3, 2026
Tom Lee Park hosts RiverBeat, the confirmed early-May music anchor on the Memphis calendar. It’s the event to check first if a spring trip is built around live music; ticket tiers and lineup details are posted closer to the date on the official RiverBeat site, and prices change year to year, so check before you book.
World Championship Barbecue Cooking Contest, May 13-16, 2026
Liberty Park hosts the self-described world’s largest pork BBQ contest, a genuine spectacle even if you don’t hold a ticket to taste. Teams compete across the four days, and the smoke alone is worth the walk-through. Confirmed for 2026, and it lands the same month as RiverBeat, so May is Memphis’s single busiest booking month, reserve hotels early if you’re coming for either event.
Elvis Week, August 8-16, 2026
Graceland’s Elvis Week runs 8 nights, centered on the Candlelight Vigil on August 15, the eve of the August 16, 1977 anniversary of Elvis Presley’s death. It’s the single biggest hotel-demand spike near Graceland and Whitehaven all year, book that stretch of accommodation as early as you can if you’re visiting during it.
What happened to Beale Street Music Festival?
It’s on hiatus. Beale Street Music Festival didn’t run in 2024 or 2025, and as of this writing the official Memphis in May site does not list a confirmed 2026 return. Don’t build a trip around it specifically, RiverBeat has effectively taken its place as the early-May music event with a confirmed date.
The one free “event” that runs every single day
The Peabody Duck March needs no calendar and no ticket: ducks have marched from the hotel elevator to the lobby fountain at 11am, then back at 5pm, every day since 1933. Arrive 20-30 minutes early for a spot by the fountain, it’s free and it’s the most reliable event in the entire city.
