Paragliding, Rafting and Zipping Through Pokhara
Pokhara packs air, water, and land adventure into a single valley ringed by the Annapurna massif. What follows sorts the real options by how they get your heart rate up, and what they cost; the Nepal Tourism Board lists most of them as regulated adventure activities.
In the air
Tandem paragliding launches from the 1,600-meter ridges of Sarangkot, Toripani, or Mandredhunga, with the aircraft riding thermals over the valley before spiraling down to a landing field beside Phewa Lake. A 20-25 minute flight runs NPR 8,000-10,000, generally with transport and a GoPro package folded in. Certified outfits include Blue Sky Paragliding, Sunrise Paragliding, and Frontiers Paragliding, all registered with the Nepal Airsports Association. Paragliding flights over Pokhara are bookable on GetYourGuide . For something calmer but still aerial, Avia Club Nepal flies ultralight aircraft out of Pokhara Airport, from a 15-minute valley loop (around $110) up to a full alpine circuit (around $300).
On the river
The Upper Seti, fed by glacial melt off Machapuchare and Annapurna, runs Grade III-IV whitewater from Hemja, about 30 minutes north of Lakeside, and stays cold (10-14°C) year-round. A half-day run costs roughly NPR 5,000-6,500 with gear, transfers, and lunch included. Rafting day trips near Pokhara are listed on Viator .
Drop and fly at Hemja
HighGround Adventures built a dedicated adventure hub in the Yamdi Khola gorge: a cantilever bungy jump of 70-80 meters over a pond (NPR 6,000-7,500), and the ZipFlyer, a 1.8-kilometer line dropping at a 56-degree incline and hitting speeds past 120 km/h (around NPR 8,000). Full technical specs are on HighGround’s own site .
On two wheels
Downhill mountain biking drops from Sarangkot to Lakeside via Naudanda, while flatter cross-country loops circle Begnas and Rupa Lakes with none of the crowds. Bike rentals run NPR 1,200-2,500 a day from shops along Lakeside.
When to go
Autumn, late September through November, gives the clearest air for both paragliding and the mountain flights; monsoon (June-August) shuts most aerial activity down and pushes the Upper Seti into faster, higher-volume water. Flight and rafting schedules are subject to Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal weather holds either way.

Before you go
Carry NPR cash; most adventure operators charge a card surcharge of 3.5-4% when they accept cards at all, and some only take cash.
