Brasilia Nature Spots: 5 Free or Cheap Escapes

Real hiking isn’t in Brasilia itself, the Plano Piloto is flat and urban, so “nature in Brasilia” mostly means a handful of free parks reachable by rideshare, plus a longer drive out to actual trails. All five spots below cost nothing or close to it.

Where do you actually hike near Brasilia?
Not in the city. The nearest real hiking trails are inside Brasilia National Park itself (cerrado trekking, free-flowing spring water), but for waterfalls and canyon trails, that means driving out to Chapada dos Veadeiros, which needs an overnight stay and a mandatory guide, or the closer Chapada Imperial for a half-day trek. Can you swim in Lago Paranoa?
Be cautious. The lake has reported eutrophication concerns in some sourcing (verify current water quality before swimming), so treat it as a scenic and recreational spot, boating, sailing, a sunset walk along Pontao do Lago Sul, rather than assuming it’s safe for a swim without checking current conditions locally first.
