What isn’t on this list
Swimming with bottlenose dolphins in the Bay of Islands has been banned by DOC since 2019 to protect the local population; cruise operators there run viewing-only trips instead, which still work well for a Bay of Islands sailing day.

Doubtful Sound and Onsen both run from Queenstown; Tekapo is roughly 3.5 hours from Christchurch, and Waiheke and Marlborough sit on opposite sides of the Cook Strait, so plan one island’s romantic loop rather than both in a single trip.
