Quebec City Family Outings Rain or Snow
Family plans in Quebec City change with the weather, so this page is organised by what the sky is doing. Prices are in Canadian dollars (CAD), and the 14.975% sales tax is added at the till on most of them.
When it rains
- Méga Parc, inside the Galeries de la Capitale at 5401 boulevard des Galeries, is an indoor amusement park. Entry was listed at 7.99, with rides priced separately. Its Patinarium skating trail is billed as the longest indoor skating trail in Canada.
- Musée de la civilisation, 85 rue Dalhousie, is open Tuesday to Sunday from 10:00 to 17:00. Children 5 and under are free, ages 6 to 11 pay 6, and a family pays 58.
- Bora Parc, the indoor waterpark at Village Vacances Valcartier, stays open all year and has about 14 water slides.
When it is cold and snowy
- Winter play centre at Valcartier, open from 3 January to 21 March 2027, with snow slides and tubing. The nearby Hôtel de Glace lets families visit its ice rooms, and ticket prices are set by height: under 1 m is free and 1 m to under 1.32 m is about 29.99 online before tax.
- Dufferin Terrace slides, three ice tracks above the river at up to 70 km/h. The last published price was about 5 per slide.
- Skating at the free Place D’Youville rink or the Plains of Abraham ice ring. Keep children off the St. Lawrence, where the ice is not safe.
- Carnaval de Québec, 5 to 14 February 2027. The official Effigie pass was about 29 plus tax at the presale price and is needed from age 13. Children 12 and under do not need one.
Dress children in layers, mittens and boots with a deep tread, since the stone steps and the hills ice over.
When it is fine
- Citadelle, entered on a 60-minute guided tour outdoors. Children 10 and under are free, youth 11 to 17 pay 8, and a family of two adults and up to three children pays 50.
- Funicular between Dufferin Terrace and Petit-Champlain, 7 one way for adults, cash only, with children under 117 cm free.
- Montmorency Falls, where the suspension bridge crosses above the drop, and the cable car, zip line and via ferrata are extra. Access is priced per person, about 13.90 for adults in high season.
- Aquarium du Québec, in Sainte-Foy, with polar bears, walruses, harbour seals, leopard sharks, a giant Pacific octopus, jellyfish and touch tanks. Adults pay roughly 25 to 34, depending on residency, and children about half that.
- Train de Charlevoix, which leaves from Montmorency Falls in season, from June to about 1 November.
Free or cheap
The city walls cost nothing to walk, and children enjoy the cannons and gates. The Plains of Abraham is free, and in summer the museum there, at 835 avenue Wilfrid-Laurier, was free for ages 5 to 12 from 19 June to 7 September 2026. Cobbled lanes are tough on strollers, so a baby carrier helps in the Lower Town.
Getting around with children
Quebec City buses let up to three children aged 6 to 12 ride free with each paying adult. Children aged 5 and under always ride free.
