Gracia: the village Barcelona swallowed
Gracia was an independent town before the city grew around it, and it still reads that way: small plazas instead of grand ones, neighborhood bars instead of tourist menus, and noticeably fewer crowds than the center. It also sits closest to Park Guell of any neighborhood on this list, so pair a Gracia wander with the free half of the park rather than treating them as separate outings.
