Walking Around Areni: Trails and Village Lanes
Areni is too small for a city-style walking tour. The walking here is a mix of one guided village walk and trails in the canyon and valleys nearby. Pick one trail, add a stroll in the village, and keep the rest of the day for wine.
In the Village A private listing offers a Heritage of Areni walking tour with wine tasting, which takes about 3 hours. It visits the ArpaParnas Wine and Rest Valley, Areni Wine Factory and Stepanyans’ Gastro Yard.

Romantic Areni: Hilltop Tastings and Old Bridge
Areni is a small wine village in the Arpa valley, and its romance is quiet: vines, red cliffs and long dinners. Its pleasures come from wine rather than resorts, so a couples’ stay is built from a few good stops. Allow a night or two, and book a driver if you plan to taste wine.
Evening Tasting at Momik WineCube The Momik WineCube sits on a hilltop among the vines, hosted by Nver and Narine Nazaryan.

Multi-Day Plans From Areni: Wine and Monasteries
Advice as of October 2026: the UK FCDO says not to travel within 5 km of Armenia’s eastern border with Azerbaijan or along the M16/H26 road from Ijevan to Noyemberyan. The US rates Armenia Level 2 and advises against the Azerbaijan border region. Areni, Noravank and the other stops here fall outside those zones. Read gov.uk and travel.state.gov before departing, and stick to main roads in Syunik and Gegharkunik.
