Kuala Lumpur runs about $20-30 a person per day on a genuine shoestring (roughly RM80-125), hostel or budget hotel, hawker meals, and public transit included; a comfortable mid-range trip runs $50-85 a day (RM200-350). A lot of the best of it costs nothing at all: KLCC Park’s ground-level view of the Petronas Twin Towers, Merdeka Square, Batu Caves’ main Temple Cave, and most of the city’s mosques and temples are all free to walk into.
