6 days turns Da Nang into a proper Central Vietnam loop

Days 1-4 here are the exact plan in the 4-day itinerary : My Khe Beach and the Marble Mountains, Son Tra and the Cham Museum, Ba Na Hills, then Hoi An. Days 5 and 6 push further, to the Cham ruins at My Son Sanctuary and a full day in Hue, both UNESCO sites that Da Nang itself doesn’t have but sits perfectly placed to reach. If 6 days is more than you need, the 4-day itinerary covers the city core plus Hoi An. Most days run 800,000-1,300,000 VND a person; the day-trip days run higher.

Day 1: My Khe Beach and the Marble Mountains

My Khe Beach in the morning, free and swimmable most of the dry season. Grab out to the Marble Mountains in the afternoon (entrance about 40,000 VND), climb the free stairs or take the 15,000/30,000 VND elevator, and pair it with Non Nuoc stone-carving village at the base. The Dragon Bridge’s fire-and-water show runs around 9pm on a Saturday or Sunday (verify current schedule).

Day 2: Son Tra Peninsula and the Cham Museum

Son Tra Peninsula’s Linh Ung Pagoda and the 67m Lady Buddha statue in the morning, free to visit; watch the roadside forest for the endangered red-shanked douc langur on the way in. The Cham Museum in the afternoon (a modest entrance fee, verify current price) holds the world’s largest collection of Cham sculpture recovered from sites including My Son, useful preview for Day 5.

Day 3: Ba Na Hills

Ba Na Hills, a built theme-park resort from 2018, sits about 40 minutes west of the city (Grab roughly 350,000-380,000 VND to the base station). The cable car ticket, roughly 1,000,000 VND adult, 800,000 VND child or senior for non-local visitors (verify), covers three consecutive days as of 2026. Go early for the Golden Bridge before the crowds and the midday heat both build.

Day 4: Hoi An Ancient Town

Hoi An sits roughly 30-45 minutes south by Grab (250,000-350,000 VND one-way). Inscribed by UNESCO in 1999, the lantern-lit Old Town, the Japanese Covered Bridge, and centuries-old merchant houses are worth a full day, and heritage houses inside the Old Town use a token ticket system for entry (verify current pricing). Stay for a lantern-lit evening on the river.

Day 5: My Son Sanctuary

My Son sits about 69km from Da Nang, roughly 1.5-2 hours by road, often paired with a Thu Bon river-boat return leg. This is a cluster of Cham Hindu temple ruins, roughly 71 standing structures built over ten centuries by the Champa Kingdom, dedicated mainly to Shiva, often described as Vietnam’s answer to Angkor on a smaller scale. Entrance fee not confirmed here (verify current price); a bundled tour from Da Nang typically covers transport, guide, and entry in one ticket. Go early, both for the light on the ruins and to beat the heat on-site, there’s little shade among the temple groups.

Day 6: Hue and the Hai Van Pass

Hue sits about 100km north, roughly 2-2.5 hours by road over the dramatic Hai Van Pass, or by the scenic Da Nang-Hue rail line (about 103km, roughly 3 hours, including dedicated Central Heritage scenic trains with panoramic windows). The Complex of Hue Monuments, Vietnam’s first UNESCO site (inscribed 1993, a year ahead of Hoi An and My Son), covers the former imperial capital under the Nguyen Dynasty, including the Imperial City and royal tombs. Entrance fee not confirmed here (verify current price). If you’re driving rather than training, the pass itself, with views down toward Da Nang Bay, is worth the trip on its own.

Getting around on 6 days: what needs booking ahead

Days 1 and 2 run on Grab and walk-up tickets. Days 3 through 6 all need transport out of the city and are worth booking or budgeting for ahead, none are covered by anything bought locally. Full fare detail is in the main Da Nang guide .

Space the three big day trips, Ba Na Hills, My Son, and Hue, across separate days rather than stacking two in one, all three involve real driving time and deserve their own attention rather than a rushed half-day version.
