Travel advisory: Dubai and the wider UAE were caught up in the 2026 regional conflict with Iran. During a roughly six-week phase in early 2026, Iranian drones and missiles struck sites in the UAE, including near Dubai’s airport and port and a hotel on Palm Jumeirah. A ceasefire has held since April, and Dubai’s flights, hotels, and attractions are operating and recovering, though the situation stays fluid (the current risk is mainly to shipping in the Strait of Hormuz, not the city). The US State Department has the UAE at “Reconsider Travel” and the UK FCDO does not advise against travel, but both flag the regional situation. Check the current US State Department and UK FCDO advisories before booking, and again before you fly. Everything below is written for a normal visit, for when it’s calm.

The 2-day version: Dubai’s greatest hits on a budget

Day 1: Downtown and a desert night

Start at the Burj Khalifa, book the “At the Top” deck (levels 124/125 run roughly AED 149-250, about $41-68; the higher level 148 deck runs AED 400-554, about $109-151) well in advance, sunset slots sell out. Spend the rest of the morning at The Dubai Mall next door, free to walk, with the Dubai Aquarium (around AED 120, about $33) as an optional add. Catch a free Dubai Fountain show outside before you leave, showtimes are mid-upgrade so verify the current schedule. In the afternoon, head out for a desert safari: dune bashing, a camel stop, and a Bedouin-camp dinner, roughly AED 99-350 (about $27-95) depending on operator.

Day 2: Old Dubai and the beach

Spend the morning in Al Fahidi Historical District, free to wander its wind-tower lanes; if it’s within budget, book an SMCCU cultural meal (roughly $40-45) with an Emirati host. Cross Dubai Creek on the abra water taxi (about 1 dirham, roughly $0.27) to browse the Gold Souk and Spice Souk in Deira, both free to walk. In the afternoon, head to JBR beach (The Walk) in Dubai Marina, free public sand and a paved promenade, or ride the Palm Monorail out to Palm Jumeirah for The View at The Palm if you’d rather see the Palm from above.

How much does 2 days in Dubai cost?

Figure roughly AED 260-750 (about $71-204) across both days if you do the desert safari and pay for the Burj Khalifa deck, or well under AED 100 (about $27) a day if you stick to the free fountain, the abra, and the souks. Add a Nol card for the metro and tram, and a budget room in Deira or Bur Dubai to keep the total down.
