Travel advisory: Dubai and the wider UAE were caught up in the 2026 regional conflict with Iran. During a roughly six-week phase in early 2026, Iranian drones and missiles struck sites in the UAE, including near Dubai’s airport and port and a hotel on Palm Jumeirah. A ceasefire has held since April, and Dubai’s flights, hotels, and attractions are operating and recovering, though the situation stays fluid (the current risk is mainly to shipping in the Strait of Hormuz, not the city). The US State Department has the UAE at “Reconsider Travel” and the UK FCDO does not advise against travel, but both flag the regional situation. Check the current US State Department and UK FCDO advisories before booking, and again before you fly. Everything below is written for a normal visit, for when it’s calm.
Before you book: confirm the current advisory yourself. This plan assumes a normal, calm visit, so check the latest situation before you commit to flights.
The 5-day version: adds Bluewaters and Ain Dubai
Five days builds on the 4-day plan (Downtown, a desert safari, Old Dubai, the Museum of the Future, Expo City) with a fifth day for Bluewaters Island and the Palm. See the fuller Dubai budget guide for the full list of cheap and free things, or add more time with the 6-day plan for a seasonal Global Village or Miracle Garden evening.
Book these before you go:
- A desert safari
- Museum of the Future tickets
- A Dubai hotel on Booking.com
- Check the current advisory before you confirm any of the above
| Day | Focus | Rough cost (solo, no hotel) |
|---|---|---|
| Day 1 | Burj Khalifa, Dubai Mall, Fountain, desert safari | AED 250-700 (~$68-191), safari-dependent |
| Day 2 | Al Fahidi, the abra, the souks | AED 10-50 (~$3-14) |
| Day 3 | Museum of the Future, Dubai Frame | AED 190-210 (~$52-57) |
| Day 4 | Expo City, Marina/JBR beach | AED 0-50 (~$0-14), pavilion-dependent |
| Day 5 | Bluewaters Island, Ain Dubai (verify) | AED 0-130 (~$0-35), verify Ain Dubai status |
Day 1: Downtown and a desert night
Start at the Burj Khalifa (levels 124/125 roughly AED 149-250, about $41-68). Spend the rest of the morning at The Dubai Mall, free to walk. Catch a free Dubai Fountain show before an afternoon desert safari, roughly AED 99-350 (about $27-95).
Day 2: Old Dubai on foot
Spend the morning in Al Fahidi Historical District, free to wander. Cross Dubai Creek on the abra (about 1 dirham, roughly $0.27) to the Gold Souk and Spice Souk in Deira.
Day 3: The Museum of the Future
Book Museum of the Future tickets in advance (roughly AED 149-159, about $41-43), then the Dubai Frame (around AED 42, about $11).
Day 4: Expo City
Spend the morning at Expo City Dubai, free public concourses, only individual pavilions charge. Take a slower afternoon on Dubai Marina’s waterfront promenade.
Day 5: Bluewaters and the Palm
Walk Bluewaters Island, connected to Dubai Marina by a pedestrian bridge and free to explore. ⚠ Ain Dubai, the observation wheel on Bluewaters, has had precautionary closures in the past year, so verify its current live status before counting on it; when open it runs roughly AED 130 (about $35). If it’s closed, spend the afternoon on Palm Jumeirah instead, ride the Palm Monorail and see The View at The Palm for a skyline look at the coast.
How much does 5 days in Dubai cost?
Figure roughly AED 450-1,140 (about $123-311) across the five days if you do the desert safari, the Museum of the Future, the Dubai Frame, and Ain Dubai, plus a Nol card for the metro and tram and a budget room in Deira or Bur Dubai.
Confirm your desert safari and Museum of the Future slots before you land, and recheck the current US State Department or UK FCDO advisory closer to your travel date.
