Guangzhou in 5 Days on a Budget (With Daily Costs)

Day 3: Canton Tower and Tianhe

Spend the afternoon in Tianhe’s Zhujiang New Town, where the Zaha Hadid-designed Opera House and the skyline are free to walk. For dinner, a mid-range dim sum chain like Dian Dou De runs ¥50-70 a person, roughly a third of what the historic, upscale Tao Tao Ju charges for the same style of meal.

Day 4: Baiyun Mountain and loose ends

Baiyun Mountain is the best-value morning in the city: ¥5 entry, with a ¥20-30 one-way cable car if you’d rather not hike the whole way. Day 5: Shenzhen, a half-day city over the border

Confirm whether your plans point toward Futian (more central) or Shenzhen North before booking, since the two stations aren’t interchangeable. A half-day covers Shenzhen’s core sights comfortably, leaving the rest of the day free for a return to Guangzhou by early evening.

Is the Guangzhou to Shenzhen day trip worth adding?
