Day 1: The castle and the Altstadt

In the afternoon, take a Weisse Flotte panorama cruise on the Neckar, a roughly 50-minute round trip past the castle and Altstadt (verify current price at weisseflotte.com), a cheaper option than the longer Neckarsteinach excursion. Tip: book the cruise for late afternoon so the light on the castle works in your favor for photos.
