6 days lets both day trips breathe, with a slower day between them
This keeps the same core and both day trips as the 5-day plan, Stiklestad and Røros, and adds a lower-key sixth day rather than a third rushed excursion. The 7-day itinerary adds one more slow day on top of this exact plan.

Day 5: Røros, the UNESCO town Trondheim doesn’t have
Røros, 2.5 hours southeast by the Rørosbanen train or car, is a former copper-mining town founded in 1644. Tour the old Olavsgruva mine and walk the old town. Return train roughly NOK 300-500 (verify), mine tour roughly NOK 200-300 (verify).

Day 6: Sverresborg and the Ringve Botanical Garden
After two day trips back to back, day six stays close to the centre. Sverresborg Trøndelag Folk Museum is built around the ruins of King Sverre’s Castle, Norway’s oldest medieval castle, and includes the relocated medieval Haltdalen stave church among 80-plus historic buildings; entry runs roughly NOK 150-200 (verify). In the afternoon, walk the Ringve Botanical Garden, free to wander around the Ringve Music Museum grounds, a genuine rest after five days of sightseeing.
| Day 6 cost (NOK, per person, verify) | Low | Higher |
|---|---|---|
| Bed | 500 | 1200 |
| Breakfast | 100 | 200 |
| Sverresborg entry | 150 | 200 |
| Lunch | 180 | 300 |
| Dinner | 400 | 700 |
| Day 6 total | 1330 | 2600 |
Build in a genuinely light day like this one somewhere in a longer Trondheim trip; two long day trips back to back is a real amount of travel time for a city this compact, and a slower sixth day keeps the whole week from feeling rushed. More on Sverresborg and Ringve is in the things to do guide .
