A full week is more time than Trondheim’s core sights need, and that’s fine
Trondheim’s actual sightseeing list fills about 5 days including both real day trips; a 7-day version keeps that same core and spends the last two days slower and cheaper rather than manufacturing extra paid attractions. This is the fullest version of the same plan the 6-day itinerary and 5-day itinerary build from a shorter base.

| Day 5 cost (NOK, per person, verify) | Low | Higher |

Day 6: Sverresborg and the Ringve Botanical Garden
Back from two day trips in a row, day six slows down: Sverresborg Trøndelag Folk Museum, built around the ruins of King Sverre’s Castle, includes the relocated medieval Haltdalen stave church; entry roughly NOK 150-200 (verify). Afterward, walk the free Ringve Botanical Garden around the Ringve Music Museum grounds.
| Day 6 cost (NOK, per person, verify) | Low | Higher |
|---|---|---|
| Bed | 500 | 1200 |
| Breakfast | 100 | 200 |

| Dinner | 400 | 700 |
| Day 6 total | 1330 | 2600 |
Day 7: Bymarka forest, free, before you leave
Close the week with the cheapest full day of the trip. Ride the Gråkallbanen, the world’s northernmost tram, from the centre to Lian in about 21 minutes for an ordinary fare, and walk the trails around the terminus, part of Bymarka’s 200-plus km network. In the afternoon, either extend the walk along the Ladestien coastal path or head back to Marinen, the riverside green space by the cathedral, for a quiet last afternoon before departure.
| Day 7 cost (NOK, per person, verify) | Low | Higher |
|---|---|---|
| Bed | 500 | 1200 |
| Breakfast | 100 | 200 |
| Tram to Lian and back | 30 | 60 |
| Lunch | 150 | 300 |
| Dinner | 400 | 700 |
| Day 7 total | 1180 | 2460 |
Check the Gråkallbanen’s timetable before you head out; it’s a fixed schedule tram, not a hop-on service, and a missed departure on your last full day costs planning time you don’t want to spend on a week this full already.
