Day 1: arrival and one evening at the ghats

Is a rest day really worth a full trip day here?
Yes. Varanasi runs on constant noise, crowds, and touts even on a good day, and stacking Sarnath, the silk quarter, and Ramnagar Fort back to back without a break burns people out by day four.
