Romantic Getaways in Miami for Couples
A romantic weekend in Miami can be built around one slow morning, one stretch on the water and one evening out. The ideas below are arranged in that order, with the prices and opening days you need. Costs are in US dollars, and each figure is the published rate at the time of writing.
Morning: gardens and a spring-fed pool
Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden (10901 Old Cutler Rd) is open every day from 10 am to 5 pm and parking is free. Online tickets on a weekday are $24.95 for adults, and weekend rates are higher. Seniors and college students pay less, and the Fairchild admission page has every tier.
The Venetian Pool in Coral Gables was carved from a coral quarry in the 1920s and is fed by a spring. Non-resident entry is $23 for adults. It is open Tuesday to Sunday only, with shorter hours on weekends, and sales stop once it fills, so go near opening. See the Coral Gables pool page .
Vizcaya Museum and Gardens (3251 S Miami Ave) is the bayfront estate of James Deering. It is open daily except Tuesday from 9:30 am to 4:30 pm, and a ticket is $20 for adults at the moment, because of a temporary reduction from the usual $32. No outside food or drink is permitted, so skip the picnic and eat afterward in Coconut Grove. Check the Vizcaya website for summer Friday evening openings.
On the water: Biscayne Bay and the beach
The Biscayne National Park Institute runs the Evening Bay Cruise for $65 from Homestead between November and February, and the Evening Cruise from Dinner Key Marina costs $68. Reserve through its booking page . On any other boat, ask the captain for a Merchant Mariner Credential, because the Coast Guard has repeatedly shut down unlicensed charters on the bay and the Miami River. Do not step aboard without seeing it.
For the beach, swim only in front of a lifeguard tower and look at the flag before you walk in. Yellow means a medium hazard, red a high one, and double red means no swimming. If a rip current drags you out, swim along the shore, then angle in.
Evening: music, theater and dinner
WALLCAST at SoundScape Park (500 17th St) is a free open-air projection of New World Symphony concerts. You bring your own chairs or blanket, and no ticket is listed. Dates announced for the 2026-27 season include 21 November, 12 December and 19 December 2026. Look at the season announcement for updates.
Dinner at South Pointe Park. Smith & Wollensky (1 Washington Ave) posts its hours on its own website, and the number for reservations is 305-673-2800. If you dine on Ocean Drive instead, ask for prices first and check whether the bill adds a service charge, because that is a common cause of double tipping.
Stage. Miami New Drama performs at the Colony Theatre (1040 Lincoln Rd), and the Arsht Center (1300 Biscayne Blvd) is the base for Florida Grand Opera, Miami City Ballet and the New World Symphony. The Arsht Center site describes each company.
Seasons and tides
Hurricane season runs 1 June to 30 November, so book flexible rates for travel in August to October. King tides in late October and November can put water on low streets around high tide, even on dry days. See the City of Miami king tide page before you plan a waterfront dinner, and do not drive through flooded roads.
For somewhere to stay, Coral Gables rooms on Booking.com are close to the Venetian Pool, and sunset cruises on Viator add a boat option.
