What to Do in Zurich: Spa, Lake and Museums
Visitors who plan around the season get the most from Zurich. In late autumn and winter the best choices are warm, covered or indoors; in summer the lake and river come alive. All prices are in Swiss francs (CHF).
Warm water under old brewery arches
Hürlimannbad & Spa occupies a former brewery in Enge (Brandschenkestrasse 150), where thermal pools sit below Romanesque-style brick vaults and a heated pool on the roof faces the city’s spires. A day entry is about CHF 42 for an adult, with the Roman-Irish ritual at about CHF 68. You must reserve a time slot on huerlimannbad.ch, and weekend hours are worth confirming.
A chocolate museum on the lake
Lindt Home of Chocolate in Kilchberg lets you sample as you follow the story of cacao and Swiss chocolate. Tickets are CHF 17 for adults, CHF 10 for ages 8 to 15, and free below that. The doors are open from 10:00 to 19:00 daily, with the last audio-guided slot at 17:30. Book a timed slot ahead. On 3 November 2026 it is shut for maintenance. Zürich Card holders get 20% off.
Where Dada began
Cabaret Voltaire at Spiegelgasse 1 is the small venue where Dada was founded in 1916. It keeps evening-oriented hours and is closed on Mondays. Exhibitions carry a charge of about CHF 7, though the Zürich Card gets you in free.
River and lake baths
Zurich’s badis are a beloved summer habit, and they have set seasons. In 2026 the river baths Oberer Letten and Unterer Letten, along with the Frauenbad Stadthausquai, ran from 9 May to 20 September, and Seebad Utoquai ran until 25 October. All are shut now. The Limmat flows fast, and swimming is banned between the Quaibrücke and the Dynamo cultural house, near the main station, at landing stages and under bridges. The river baths are for strong swimmers only. Strandbad Mythenquai and Utoquai charge CHF 8 for adults.
Travel costs and the city card
The city sits in two fare zones. A single ticket is about CHF 4.70 and a day ticket about CHF 9.40, with small rises from 13 December 2026. The Zürich Card is CHF 29 for 24 hours and CHF 56 for 72 hours, covering transport and many museums, and it pays back when several paid sights fall on one day. Check zuerich.com for the latest terms.
