Doha for Couples: Romantic Ideas
Check the advisory first (November 2026). Iranian missiles and drones struck Qatar from 28 February 2026, Doha’s airspace was shut for weeks, and passenger flights came back in stages from March to April. Further missile barrages over Doha were reported on 17 July. The UK government does not advise against all travel to Qatar (FCDO Qatar ), though it calls the situation deeply unpredictable. The US State Department has its own advisory. Choose refundable bookings for a romantic trip.
Setting the tone
Romance in Doha means long dinners, waterfront views and an unhurried pace rather than beach parties. Evenings are comfortable from November to March. Summer nights stay hot. Qatar also has strict local rules: public affection between couples, including married ones, can attract police attention, and FCDO guidance says unmarried couples living together is an offence, so ask hotels about their policies.
The island day
Banana Island Resort Doha by Anantara is a resort island reached by a catamaran from Al Shyoukh Terminal on the Corniche, a crossing of about 30 minutes. Day passes are listed at about QAR 395 per adult, with a sunset pass sailing at 15:00 and returning at 21:00. Photo ID is checked at the terminal. The resort page has current pass details.
Dinner
Three restaurants come up most often in Doha romance planning. Nobu Doha is at the Four Seasons Hotel on the Corniche, reached across a causeway, with dinner service and a Sunday closure on one listing. Parisa is a Persian restaurant in Souq Waqif and reservations are advised. Hakkasan serves at the St. Regis Doha in West Bay. Reserve all three well ahead, and confirm hours directly. Alcohol is available only in licensed hotel venues for guests aged 21 and over with original photo ID.
After dark
The Pearl-Qatar’s Qanat Quartier has canal-side lanes that are best for a slow evening walk, with Legtaifiya Metro station nearby. At Place Vendome Mall in Lusail, dancing fountains play every hour between 19:00 and 23:00, followed by a nightly laser show. The Corniche is at its best at sunset, looking back toward the West Bay towers.

Boats and skylines
Wooden dhow boats operate from jetties along the Corniche. Agree price, duration and departure point before boarding.
Etiquette for couples
- Dress covers shoulders and knees. Swimwear stays at pools and beaches.
- Do not photograph strangers without consent.
- Heat can pass 40C in summer, so plan evenings outdoors between November and March.
- Uber and Karwa taxis are the ride choices in Doha.
