Dresden Attraction Tours and Timed Tickets
A handful of Dresden’s headline sights work on timed entry or guided access, so a little planning pays off. The notes below answer the questions visitors ask most. Prices are in euros as published by the venues, and they can change.
How do I see inside the Semperoper?
Semperoper Erleben sells the building tours. The standard Highlight tour is 45 minutes, priced at 16 EUR for adults and 11 EUR for reduced tickets, and children under six are not charged. A longer option combines the opera house with a walk through the Altstadt in about two and a half hours for 28 EUR (23 EUR reduced). Ticket holders for an evening show can add a short half-hour introduction for 13 EUR. Dates are on semperoper-erleben.de , and the Highlight tour is offered on nearly every day of the week.
How do I get into the Historic Green Vault?
It sits inside the Residenzschloss and uses its own timed slots, at 18 EUR or 13.50 EUR reduced. No SKD day pass includes it, so buy the slot online first through the vault’s own page . Pupils pay 2 EUR. A temporary exhibition of welcome goblets runs until early January 2027. If you also want the rest of the palace, the combined Residenzschloss ticket at 28 EUR bundles both. Note that the palace shuts on Tuesdays.
Can I climb the Residenzschloss tower?
Yes, in season. The Hausmannsturm is part of the Residenzschloss house ticket and is open from late March until early November. The final ascent leaves at 16:30. Outside that window it is closed.
What about the Frauenkirche dome?
A self-guided ascent costs 12 EUR, or 7 EUR if you are a child aged 6 to 16, a pupil, a student or a pensioner, and a family ticket is 24 EUR. You enter through stair tower G, climb 174 steps to about 29 metres, then follow a spiral ramp and further steps, one of them a steep ladder-style stair, to the platform at 67 metres. Nobody should expect a lift. A guided climb, limited to 25 people and lasting about an hour, has to be reserved ahead. Details are on the dome ascent page .
Are there guided visits to Jewish heritage sites?
Yes, and they are the only way in. The Neue Synagoge at Hasenberg 1 was built where Gottfried Semper’s synagogue stood until it was burned in November 1938, and its interior opens on guided visits. The Old Jewish Cemetery dating from 1751 is the oldest in Saxony and can be seen with a guide; men should cover their heads. The association Hatikva has led tours there, so ask it or the Jewish community for dates. Visit with quiet respect.
