Multi-Day Bahrain Itinerary from Manama
Check before you travel, October 2026. Iranian missiles and drones hit Bahrain from 28 February 2026. A ceasefire began on 8 April 2026 and has mostly held, though violations have been reported and there have been later drone and cyber incidents. Flights and the King Fahd Causeway have been shut with little warning. Read the FCDO page for Bahrain and the US travel advisory , confirm cover with your insurer, and confirm your flights with the airline before you pay for anything.
Short answer on multi-day travel
Bahrain does not have overnight touring routes. The main island is roughly 50 km long and 16 km wide, so a trip of several days means picking a base and making day outings. This page covers what that looks like, what is possible beyond the island, and what is not.
Leaving the island
The King Fahd Causeway to Saudi Arabia is the only road link. It is a border crossing, with passport control for both countries on Passport Island, so you cannot drive out to look and turn back. A Saudi visa is needed to enter Saudi Arabia, the toll is SAR 35 per car for each crossing (about BD 3.5), and the crossing was shut in April 2026. Bahrain has no road or rail link to the UAE or Ras Al Khaimah.
For the Hawar Islands in the south, boats leave from Durrat Al Bahrain Marina and visits are arranged through Hawar Resort or a tour operator, sometimes with permission. It is a boat trip with an optional resort stay, not a touring circuit.
A three-day base plan
Day one: Manama. Begin with a guided visit to Al Fateh Grand Mosque, then spend time in the National Museum (closed Tuesdays). A shuttle boat runs from the museum car park to Bu Maher Fort. Walk the souq from Bab Al Bahrain in the afternoon and dine in Block 338.
Day two: ancient Bahrain. Go to Qal’at al-Bahrain early, remembering it is closed on Mondays. Continue to the A’ali burial mounds and pottery workshops. Finish at the Tree of Life and near Jebel Dukhan, where Oil Well No. 1 recalls the 1932 oil discovery.
Day three: Muharraq and wildlife. Walk the Pearling Path in the morning and taste halwa in the Muharraq souq. After lunch, visit the Mohammed bin Zayed Nature Reserve near Zallaq, then relax at Al Jazayer Beach or eat at the Amwaj Islands marina.
Where to stay
Central Manama and Adliya put you close to the sights and restaurants. Resort stays at Zallaq (Sofitel Zallaq Thalassa Sea and Spa) or in Seef (The Ritz-Carlton, Bahrain) suit a longer rest, and the Four Seasons Hotel Bahrain Bay is on the Manama waterfront. Nightly rates at these hotels are about BD 80 to 220 or more.
Planning notes

- The 2027 Bahrain Grand Prix at Sakhir is scheduled for 12 to 14 March 2027, with testing in late February. Confirm dates with the official calendar.
- Entry visas are mostly online at evisa.gov.bh , and fees vary.
