Naples Group Activities: Cost Per Head
Bigger group, smaller bill
Travelling in a group changes the maths in Naples. Some things get cheaper per person, such as a private boat, and some get harder, such as the timed tickets that sell in small batches. This page works out the cost per head for the main group options and the booking rules that trip groups up.
A private boat: cheaper than it looks
A private speedboat for the day along the Gulf of Naples or the Amalfi Coast costs roughly EUR700 to EUR1,800 or more. Split eight ways, that is about EUR90 to EUR225 each, which sits close to the EUR85 to EUR160 a person charged for a shared full-day Capri cruise. The private boat goes where your group wants and stops when you say. You can compare private boat charters on Viator by size and route.
Check the capacity and whether fuel, the skipper and the Capri landing fee are included before you compare prices.
A pizza class: fixed price per person
Pizza masterclasses with a master pizzaiuolo run about EUR45 to EUR85 a person, so a group of six spends EUR270 to EUR510. Group discounts are up to each school. The class teaches the AVPN method and ends with the group eating what it baked, which makes it a ready-made group dinner. Search group pizza classes on GetYourGuide and ask for a private session if you are eight or more.
Napoli Sotterranea: walk in under 10
Groups of fewer than 10 do not need to book the tunnel tour under the old centre. Tours leave Piazza San Gaetano 69 every hour from 10:00 to 18:00, in English and Italian, at about EUR12 to EUR15 each. A group of 10 or more should book in advance. Times are on the Sotterranea visiting hours page .
Timed tickets: where groups come unstuck
Cappella Sansevero sells every visit by time slot, at EUR12 for adults, EUR8 for ages 18 to 26 and EUR6 for ages 10 to 17, and it is closed on Tuesdays. The ticket office can sell to groups of up to nine for visits within the next seven days, but only from the same stock shown online, and your slot is held for just 10 minutes. One late member can cost everyone their entry, so meet nearby first. Book on the museum’s ticket page .
Vesuvius releases roughly 50 tickets every 10 minutes, each in a visitor’s name, up to 30 days ahead, at EUR10 (EUR8 under 25) plus a fee. A large group may have to split across two slots, so book early at Vesuvius Vivaticket .
Pompeii issues named tickets too, at EUR20 each, with a daily cap of 20,000. EU citizens aged 18 to 24 pay just EUR2, so collect ages and passports before you buy.
Mixed ages
- Herculaneum is free for under-18s and EUR16 for adults.
- MANN is free for under-18s and EUR20 for adults.
- The first Sunday of each month is free at Pompeii, Herculaneum and MANN, but busy.
Money tips
- Do not hire a minibus to drive into the old centre; camera-enforced traffic zones fine each vehicle.
- On the Circumvesuviana, a group is an easy target. Keep bags in front and phones zipped.
- Airport transfers by Alibus cost EUR5 each, which a group of four should compare with a taxi.

Before you book anything, put every traveller’s full name and date of birth in one shared list. Vesuvius and Pompeii issue every ticket in a visitor’s name, and age decides who pays the reduced rates at Sansevero, Pompeii and MANN.
