Quebec City Day Trips Ranked by Time
The trips below are ordered by how much time they take from the old town. Fees are in Canadian dollars (CAD) and mostly from 2026 rate pages. In winter, check road conditions first, because storms can shut routes between November and April.
A half day: Montmorency Falls
The falls are in Parc de la Chute-Montmorency at 5300 boulevard Sainte-Anne, on the edge of the city. They drop 83 m, and the park compares them with Niagara at 53 m. The park is open all year, closed on 25 December, with hours around 9:00 to 18:00 that change by season. Pricing is by person, not by vehicle. An adult day access was about 13.90 CAD from 11 May to 1 November 2026 and about 10.42 in the low season, with Quebec residents paying about half. The cable car, a double zip line and a via ferrata cost extra, at about 14.95, 33.50 and 51.00 CAD for adults before tax. In winter the 487-step staircase and the bridge are slippery. RTC bus 800 and a shuttle both reach the park. Read the Quebec-Cité listing for current features.
A half day: Wendake
Wendake is a Huron-Wendat community near the city, and visits are best with respect for a living community. The Site traditionnel Huron Onhoüa Chetek8e at 575 rue Chef Stanislas-Koska has one-hour guided visits in period dress and is bilingual. The Musée huron-wendat is at 15 place de la Rencontre, with a guided tour of about 1 hour 15 minutes. The free Parc de la Falaise et de la chute Kabir Kouba on boulevard Bastien shows a 28 m fall, with the trail section closed in winter. The official pages are the museum and Wendake tourism .
A full day: Île d’Orléans and Sainte-Anne-de-Beaupré
Drive over the Pont de l’Île d’Orléans, the island’s only road link since 1935, and follow chemin Royal around Route 368, about 67 km through six villages. A new bridge is being built, so expect some works. On the island, Cassis Monna & Filles is at 1225 chemin Royal, Cidrerie Verger Bilodeau et Distillerie at 1868 chemin Royal (free ice cider tastings) and the Chocolaterie de l’Île d’Orléans at 8330 chemin Royal. Sugar shack season is mid-March to the end of April.
Sainte-Anne-de-Beaupré, a working pilgrimage shrine at 10018 avenue Royale, is about 20 minutes from the city. Keep a quiet, respectful tone there, and confirm hours on the shrine’s site . Canyon Sainte-Anne, open May to October, is 6 km further on.
A long day: Parc national de la Jacques-Cartier
The park lies about 40 to 50 km north. Adults pay about 10.30 CAD for daily access, and under-18s are free but need an access authorisation. Les Loups trail offers lookouts at 5 km return (about 2 hours) and 11 km return (about 3 hours 30 minutes) from a trailhead at kilometre 16. In season, the discovery centre rents canoes, kayaks and paddleboards.
Better as an overnight: Tadoussac
Whale watching at Tadoussac is about 3 hours each way, plus a free 10-minute ferry. Plan a night there, and see multi-day trips from Quebec City .
