Seattle Sightseeing From Pike Place to Kerry Park
This route links Seattle’s best-known sights in an order that keeps walking and transit short. Fares are in US dollars and exclude sales tax. Hours and prices change, so each stop points you to an official page.
Stop 1: Pike Place Market
Start at 85 Pike St, where entry is free and the market opens every day except Thanksgiving and Christmas. Most shops keep roughly 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. hours. The store at 1912 Pike Place is the oldest Starbucks still operating, while the very first opened in 1971 at 2000 Western Ave. Fish throwing at Pike Place Fish began in the 1980s, and the Gum Wall in Post Alley appeared in the early 1990s. The market’s visit page gives current opening hours.
Stop 2: Overlook Walk and the waterfront
From the market, take the Overlook Walk down toward Elliott Bay. It is a free elevated park with steps and an elevator, opened on 4 October 2024. On a clear day you can see the bay, the Olympic Mountains and Mount Rainier. The old elevated highway along the shore was removed in 2019, which is why the water is now in plain view. The Seattle Great Wheel stands nearby on Pier 57, and secondary sources list adult tickets at about $23, so confirm the fare before you queue.
Stop 3: Pioneer Square
Walk south into the district rebuilt after the Great Fire of 1889. The red-brick streets are the starting point for the Underground Tour, which is about 75 minutes long. Departures run hourly through the day, and the route includes stairs and uneven ground.
Stop 4: Chinatown-International District
The Wing Luke Museum at 719 S King St is a short distance on. It opens Wednesday to Sunday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and adults pay $25.95. A free Historic Hotel Tour runs at 10:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. on those days. Plan for a quiet, thoughtful visit. See the Wing Luke visit page .
Stop 5: Seattle Center
Take Link light rail to Westlake and then the Monorail, a two-stop ride that costs $4.00 each way for adults. Monorail card readers accept ORCA only, not contactless cards or phones, so carry your fare another way. The Space Needle at 400 Broad St charges $35 to $55 for general admission, with timed entry. Chihuly Garden and Glass at 305 Harrison St lists adult tickets at about $40 to $45, and the two share a $74 combination. Both official sites explain the options: Space Needle and Chihuly Garden and Glass .
Stop 6: Kerry Park at sunset
Finish on Queen Anne at 211 W Highland Dr. The viewpoint is free and frames the skyline with the Space Needle in front. Mount Rainier shows on clear days. Posted hours vary between guides, so go before dusk.
Practical tips
Link light rail costs a flat $3.00 for adults and nothing for riders 18 and under. Seattle is hilly, so wear shoes you can climb in. Expect rain from October to April and bring a light waterproof layer.
