Things to Do in Latchi by Season and Time of Day
Latchi is a harbour village in Paphos District, in the north-west of Cyprus, also spelled Latsi. It lies about 4 km west of Polis Chrysochous. Prices are in euros. This page sorts what to do by when it works best, because the season and the time of day decide most of the plans here.
May to October: the sea season
Boat trips, dive trips and water sports run mainly in these months. Shared Blue Lagoon cruises take 2.5 to 3 hours, with a 30 to 45 minute crossing each way and time to swim. Morning sailings avoid the crowd, since July and August middays bring several boats to the same bay. Wind can cancel a sailing, so avoid fixing your whole holiday around one date. Check operator times and prices before you book, because the figures on booking sites change.
Latchi Watersports Centre opens its harbour desk from 08:00 to 20:00 and offers jet skis, parasailing, paddleboards, canoes, pedalos, banana rides and tube rides. For deeper water, the same centre runs daily PADI boat dives.
Morning
Mornings suit anything that needs calm water or cool air. Take the first cruise, start a dive, or begin a trail at the Baths of Aphrodite before the heat builds. George’s Boat Hire gives start times of 08:30, 09:00 and 09:30 for self-drive boats, and a later one at 13:30. Its Eco Line boat is about EUR 180 for four hours, with larger boats at about EUR 360 and luxury yachts at about EUR 595.
Midday
Midday in summer is hot, so use it for shade and lunch. Harbour tavernas serve fish meze, and a platter for two or more is the usual order. Porto Latchi, Faros, Psaropoulos, Restomare and Yiangos and Peter (Y&P) are the names guides give. The beach beside the harbour has sand and pebbles, showers, toilets and sunbeds, and travel sites report lifeguards in season, so check lifeguard hours before swimming.
Late afternoon and evening
The Nafsika II sunset barbecue cruise sails from 16:00 until sunset. On land, the old stone carob warehouses on the quay now house restaurants. There is no club scene, so the evening is for dinner and a stroll.
November to April: walking season
Boat trips thin out, but the Akamas is pleasant for walking when summer heat has passed. The Aphrodite Nature Trail is a 7.5 km loop of 3 to 4 hours from the Baths of Aphrodite, and the Smigies trail near Neo Chorio offers 2.5 km and 6 km circuits. Polis, 4 km east, has a free archaeological museum open Monday to Saturday. Some services run outside the main season, so confirm before you travel.
