A Romantic Stay Around Ha Long Bay

Planning a romantic stay around Ha Long Bay takes a little care, because the choices are modest and the best of them are simple. There is no long list of couples’ packages here. Choose a cruise cabin carefully

Sleeping on the bay is the headline experience. Several boats offer balcony cabins, but the line up of operators changes, so ask each one for details in writing. Before paying, ask for the vessel registration and safety certificate and check for a steel hull. Clear weather is most likely between October and April, and storm season runs May to November, so leave a spare night if you travel in the summer months.

A soak for two

Yoko Onsen Quang Hanh, in Cam Pha east of the city, is a Japanese style onsen with a private option in addition to the shared baths. Public sessions are scheduled 09:00 to 13:00 and 14:00 to 18:00. Prices depend on the package, and the resort website is the right place to check them.

Less crowded water

Bai Tu Long Bay sits north east of the main bay and has its own routes from Ao Tien port. Lan Ha, around Cat Ba, can be reached on overnight link cruises that began in April 2026, and it charges a separate fee of about 120,000 VND per adult.

Know before you go

There are no scenic flights, since the seaplane service ended in April 2026 and helicopter tours are suspended. Soi Sim beach is closed. Winter mornings can be foggy and cold, at 12 to 15 degrees Celsius, so pack a layer. A typhoon warning will cancel sailings at short notice.
