Day 1: The Rynek and the dwarf hunt
The Rynek, one of Europe’s largest medieval market squares, is free to stand in; the Gothic Old Town Hall in the middle houses the City Museum, a separate paid ticket. Spend the morning hunting dwarf statues (krasnale) around the square and the surrounding streets, free with a map or an app, then walk to Plac Solny and the Hansel and Gretel houses (Jaś i Małgosia) nearby, both free. In the evening, head into the Four Denominations District just off the square for dinner.

Day 2: Ostrow Tumski, Panorama Raclawicka, and Centennial Hall
Cross to Ostrów Tumski in the morning, the oldest part of the city, free to walk; the Cathedral of St. John the Baptist’s tower lift is a separate ticket (estimate 10 PLN). From there, Panorama Racławicka (estimate 35 PLN), the 360-degree painted cyclorama of the 1794 Battle of Racławice, is a short walk back toward the center. In the afternoon, tram out to Centennial Hall, free to view the dome and the Pergola from outside; go inside the Zoo and Afrykarium only if you have time (estimate 60 PLN), otherwise the Japanese Garden alone is a cheaper add-on (estimate 12 PLN). Come back to Ostrów Tumski at dusk if you can, to see the gas lamps lit by hand.

Getting around on 2 days
