A full week covers Gdansk, the whole Tricity, and two rail day trips
Days 1-6 repeat the 6-day itinerary exactly: Main Town, Solidarity and Westerplatte, Sopot, Gdynia, Malbork Castle, and the Hel Peninsula. Day 7 adds Toruń, a UNESCO medieval town and Copernicus’s birthplace, the longest single rail trip on this itinerary. Expect roughly 150-260 PLN a person per day.

- Confirm Toruń’s rail timetable ahead of Day 7, the roughly 2-2.5 hour journey each way needs an early start to make it worth a single day

Day 1: The Royal Way and the Motława waterfront
Walk the Royal Way from the Golden Gate to the Green Gate, an honest postwar reconstruction of a Main Town left roughly 90% in ruins in 1945. Climb St. Mary’s Church (4-8 zł), browse ul. Mariacka, follow the Motława to the Crane.

Day 2: Solidarity and Westerplatte
Morning at the European Solidarity Centre (around 30 zł), afternoon at Westerplatte, where WWII’s first shots were fired 1 September 1939.

Day 3: Sopot’s beach and pier
SKM to Sopot (about 6.50 zł, 20 minutes). Walk ul. Bohaterów Monte Cassino, see the Crooked House, cross the Molo (around 10 zł, seasonal).

Day 4: Gdynia’s modernist waterfront
SKM to Gdynia (about 9.60 zł, roughly 35 minutes). Intact interwar modernist downtown, the Emigration Museum, a quieter waterfront than Gdansk’s own.

Day 5: Malbork Castle
Regio train from Gdańsk Główny (roughly 27 minutes, about 13.50 zł one-way) to Malbork Castle, completed in 1406 by the Teutonic Knights, the largest brick castle in the world and UNESCO-listed since 1997; admission with audio guide around 29.50 zł.

Day 6: The Hel Peninsula
A full day on the Hel Peninsula, a 35km sand-bar with beach towns and the Fokarium seal sanctuary. Combine SKM with onward transport and build in the return trip.

Day 7: Toruń, gingerbread and Copernicus
The longest single trip on this itinerary, roughly 2-2.5 hours each way by rail. Toruń is a UNESCO World Heritage medieval town, famed for centuries of gingerbread-making (pierniki) and as the birthplace of Nicolaus Copernicus in 1473, whose reputed birth house is now a museum. An early train out is worth it, the return journey alone eats up most of an evening if you leave Toruń late.

Getting around on 7 days
Days 3-4 and Day 6 all touch the SKM network; Days 5 and 7 use separate PKP/Polregio tickets to Malbork and Toruń respectively, book neither’s train until you’ve confirmed the return schedule the night before. Full transit detail is in the main Gdansk guide and the day trips guide .
Put Toruń on whichever day of the week has the earliest realistic start, it’s the one day this itinerary can’t recover from a late morning.
