Aruba Attraction Tours: Submarine, Farms, Aloe
Choosing Attractions on Aruba
Aruba’s paid attractions are modest in size, which makes them easy to fit around beach time. Below is what each one costs, where it is and how to book. All prices are US dollars. Opening hours change, so phone or check the website the day before.
Atlantis Submarine, Oranjestad
You board at the Atlantis store in Renaissance Marina, and you walk to the pier yourself, as transfers are not offered. The cruise runs about 90 minutes and goes down to around 130 feet. Children must be 4 or older. Resellers list adults at about $99 and children at about $89. Reserve through De Palm Tours in busy months because seating is limited. For something shallower, De Palm Tours also operates the Seaworld Explorer semi-submarine.
The Butterfly Farm, Palm Beach
The farm is on J.E. Irausquin Boulevard. Entry is $19 for adults, $16 for seniors and students and $10 for children from 4 to 17. Under-4s are free. A guided tour is part of the ticket. Plan to arrive between 8:30 and 16:00, since the last tour starts at about 16:00. Ask the front desk whether your ticket works for another visit during your trip.
Philip’s Animal Garden, Noord
At Alto Vista 116, adults pay $10 and children aged 2 to 13 pay $5. The garden is open each day from around 9:00 to 18:00. Species include macaws, cockatoos, flamingos, capuchin and howler monkeys, agoutis, armadillos, coatis and crocodiles. Staff supervise any hand-feeding, so follow their lead.
Donkey Sanctuary Aruba, Santa Cruz
More than 130 donkeys live at Bringamosa 2-Z, and admission is free with donations welcome. Weekend hours can be shorter than weekdays, so check before heading out. Offer only the food that staff provide, and do not ride the animals.
Aruba Aloe Museum, Factory and Store, Hato
The Aloe factory at Pitastraat 115 gives a free tour of roughly 25 minutes. Expect a look at how aloe is grown and processed for cosmetics, not a tasting. Published hours are about 8:30 to 16:00 on weekdays and 9:00 to 12:00 on Saturdays, with Sundays closed, but check the hours first.
Aruba Ostrich Farm and Evening Tours
The Ostrich Farm is at Matividiri 57, Paradera, and adult entry is between about $12 and $17. For nightlife, Kukoo Kunuku’s party bus pub crawl is listed from about $79 to $85, and night tours are for guests 18 and over.
Planning Tips
Pair the Butterfly Farm with a beach day in Palm Beach, and group Philip’s Animal Garden with the lighthouse and Alto Vista Chapel in Noord. Carry some cash for small entries and donations. Keep valuables out of parked cars.
