Romance is one of Nassau’s thinner categories. There is no long list of candlelit experiences, just a few good dinners, a resort garden and some calmer beaches. Money is in Bahamian dollars, which equal US dollars one for one.

Graycliff for a long dinner

On West Hill Street, Graycliff is a historic mansion with 16 guest rooms, a fine-dining restaurant, a cigar company and a chocolate factory. Its wine cellar is credited by the tourism board with over 250,000 bottles, though specialists dispute the count. Book ahead and read more at Graycliff .

The Ocean Club on Paradise Island

DUNE by Jean-Georges, at The Ocean Club, A Four Seasons Resort, serves dinner between 6pm and 10pm. DUNE Bar and Ocean Blu opened again for bookings on 8 October 2026. Menus and policies are on the resort dining pages . The resort’s garden, The Cloister, is also on the grounds, so ask whether visitors can enter. Because jitneys skip Paradise Island, travel by taxi or by the harbour ferry, which runs by day and makes its last return at roughly 5:30pm.

Calmer beaches

Cable Beach, at Baha Mar, and Love Beach in the north-west attract fewer crowds than the beaches near the cruise port. According to the tourism board, about 40 acres of protected coral lie near Love Beach. No lifeguard cover is confirmed at the main beaches, so avoid swimming alone, leave the water before dusk and stay clear of any place where bait is used. Both governments mention assaults near downtown beaches, so daytime and company matter.

Getting home after dark

Jitneys finish between about 6:30pm and 7pm. Taxis follow government zone fares without meters, so agree the total beforehand. Unofficial airport figures for Paradise Island run about $45 to $55 for one or two passengers, plus the bridge toll. Remember that drivers keep to the left. Hurricane season runs from 1 June to 30 November, so keep autumn dates flexible.
