Unforgettable Sightseeing in the Dominican Republic The sights worth planning a day around here split cleanly into three kinds: colonial stone, mountain and waterfall, and a coastline that only shows its best side in the right season. Beaches Punta Cana’s resorts sit on some of the country’s most developed sand, good for swimming and water sports but crowded by midday. Playa Dorada offers a livelier stretch with restaurants and shops close by.

Explore Paradise: Multi-Day Trips in the Dominican Republic The mistake most multi-day trips here make is treating the whole country as an extension of the resort strip, when three genuinely different landscapes sit within a day’s drive of each other. Samaná and El Limón Waterfall From January 15 through March 31, Samaná Bay hosts humpback whale watching under an 80-meter approach limit set by the Ministry of Environment , with a marine biologist required on every licensed boat.

Family Fun Under the Dominican Sun Not every headline attraction in the Dominican Republic is built for young kids, and knowing which ones actually are saves a day of arguing on the beach. Beach Bliss Bávaro Beach in Punta Cana has calm, shallow water and enough flat sand for a full afternoon of sandcastles. Cabarete’s wind makes it better suited to kiteboarding lessons for older kids and teens, while younger ones are happier splashing in the calmer shallows nearby.

Discover the Beauty of the Dominican Republic with Attraction Tours Three attraction tours cover three different reasons to visit the Dominican Republic, and none of them overlaps much with the others. Nature and adventure: Samaná and Puerto Plata Samaná’s humpback whale season runs January 15 through March 31, with licensed boats holding to an 80-meter distance and a marine biologist required aboard under the Ministry of Environment’s season rules . Outside that window, boats run instead to Los Haitises National Park for its mangrove channels and Taíno cave paintings.

Adventures Await: Activities in the Dominican Republic What you can do here changes by the month more than most Caribbean destinations, so the calendar matters as much as the map. Thrill Seekers Canyoning and rappelling through Jarabacoa’s canyons, and white-water rafting on the Yaque del Norte River, run through the wetter months when the rivers carry the most water. The Damajagua Waterfalls near Puerto Plata offer the same style of adventure closer to the coast: a guided circuit of 27 limestone pools, mandatory helmet, life vest and guide, with a minimum age around 7 to 8 for the first pools and the full circuit recommended from about 12.

2 days in Nassau and Paradise Island, budgeted honestly The Bahamas is an Atlantic archipelago of roughly 700 islands, not a Caribbean Sea country and not a US state or Puerto Rico, with Nassau as the capital on New Providence. Two days here means a Nassau and Paradise Island trip only; the Out Islands need a flight or ferry, and that logistics eats a short trip whole. US dollars work everywhere at par, since the Bahamian dollar is pegged 1:1, so there’s nothing to exchange, and US passport holders clear US preclearance right at Nassau’s own airport before the flight home.

Four days is enough to do The Bahamas on the leanest realistic budget without pretending this is a cheap country, because it isn’t. Two days cover Nassau on the cheap, jitneys instead of taxis, free public beaches instead of the Atlantis day pass, conch from the Fish Fry instead of a resort menu, then a $55 fast ferry carries you to Harbour Island for two days of pink sand and a golf cart instead of a rental car.

Five days on the leanest realistic Bahamas budget buys two days in Nassau and three across the water in Harbour Island, honestly priced but not backpacker-cheap: jitneys instead of taxis, Fish Fry conch instead of resort menus, free public beaches instead of the $195-260 Atlantis day pass, then a $55 fast ferry to the pink sand instead of a chartered flight. The Bahamas is an archipelago, so Nassau to any other island means a ferry or a flight, never a rental car.

6 days in Nassau, Exuma and Harbour Island, budgeted honestly The Bahamas is an Atlantic archipelago, not a Caribbean Sea country and not a US state or Puerto Rico, with Nassau as the capital on New Providence. Six days is enough to add a second Out Island to a Nassau base, but only if you accept that every inter-island leg is a flight or a ferry, not a quick drive, and that Exuma has no direct link to Harbour Island, so you route back through Nassau both times.

Seven days on the leanest realistic Bahamas budget buys the fullest version of this cluster’s route: two days in Nassau, the capital, on New Providence, three across a flight in the Exumas for the swimming pigs and Thunderball Grotto, and two more on Harbour Island’s pink sand, honestly priced but not backpacker-cheap. The Bahamas is its own independent country, not a US state and not Puerto Rico, and it’s an archipelago, so every island change here means a flight or ferry, never a rental car, one full day of these seven goes almost entirely to that transit, the real cost of a two-island trip.

Two days in Anguilla on a budget: the honest costs Anguilla is not a cheap Caribbean island, and no budget plan should pretend otherwise: no cruise port, no casinos, no high-rises, by design, and the prices follow that positioning. Two days here is still a real, satisfying trip on its own, not a rushed preview, covering Shoal Bay East, Meads Bay and Rendezvous Bay plus a proper beach-bar meal. What actually keeps the cost down is picking the cheaper option at every fork: the public ferry over a private charter, a beach-bar plate over the fine-dining tier, and free beach access everywhere you go.

Three days in Anguilla on a budget: the honest costs Anguilla is not a cheap Caribbean island: no cruise port, casinos or high-rises, and prices follow suit. Three days covers the headline beaches plus a genuine offshore cay day, a real trip. Only two days? The 2-day plan skips the cay; a 4-day plan or 7-day plan adds Scilly Cay, a car loop and St Martin. Day Focus Travel time Rough daily cost Day 1 SXM arrival, public ferry to Blowing Point, Shoal Bay East, beach-bar dinner 20-25 min ferry crossing plus a taxi to base $90-150 Day 2 Meads Bay, Rendezvous Bay, a second beach-bar meal short fixed-rate taxi hops between beaches $60-100 Day 3 Sandy Island or Prickly Pear cay day, grilled seafood lunch 5-10 min boat transfer from Sandy Ground $70-120 Book these before you go:

Four days in Anguilla on a budget: the honest costs Anguilla is not a cheap Caribbean island, and four days does not change that. It buys real variety: headline beaches on days one and two, a first offshore cay on day three, and Scilly Cay’s grilled lobster lunch on day four. Only here for two days? The 2-day plan covers the beaches alone. A full week? The 7-day plan adds a St Martin day trip on top of this.

Five days in Anguilla on a budget: the honest costs Anguilla is not a cheap Caribbean island, and five days does not change that. It buys the full headline set, best beaches, a first offshore cay, Scilly Cay’s lobster lunch, plus one deliberately slow day rather than a fifth new checklist item. Only here for four days? The 4-day plan covers everything except that slow day. A full week? The 7-day plan adds a second cay and a St Martin day trip on top of this.

Six days in Anguilla on a budget: the honest costs Anguilla is not a cheap Caribbean island, and six days does not change that. It buys the full route: headline beaches on days one and two, the first offshore cay on day three, Scilly Cay’s grilled lobster on day four, an island loop by rental car on day five, and a St Martin day trip by ferry on day six. Only here for four days?

Seven days in Anguilla on a budget: the honest costs Seven days in Anguilla is not more sights, it is more pace. This British Overseas Territory, a separate country from St Martin/Sint Maarten next door despite sharing the same arrival route, has a headline list, top beaches, two offshore cays, Scilly Cay’s lobster lunch, a rental-car island loop, that fits comfortably inside five days; the extra two here buy a St Martin day trip and genuinely unstructured beach time instead of a longer checklist.

Two honest days: the peso (DOP), not a “Dominican dollar”, trades around 58-64 to the US dollar (58.6 in mid-July 2026, verify same-day), and pesos win over dollars the moment you leave a resort or a tour desk.

Three days keeps the peso math from the shorter plan (58-64 to the US dollar, 58.6 in mid-July 2026) and adds Punta Cana’s Bavaro beach strip by the budget coach rather than a resort transfer: Santo Domingo’s Zona Colonial for a day, a Boca Chica beach day, then east on the $7-9 Expreso Bavaro coach for a beach afternoon that skips the all-inclusive gate entirely.

Seven days is the full budget loop this cluster builds toward: Santo Domingo, Boca Chica, the coach east to Bavaro, an Isla Saona boat day, Samana for whales or the waterfall, then two more days north to Puerto Plata and Cabarete for the 27 Charcos canyoning circuit before flying home.

Three Days in Trinidad and Tobago: Port of Spain and the Coast Three days buys you one island done properly, not two done badly. This route stays on Trinidad: Port of Spain’s Savannah and street food, a Maracas Bay beach day, and a sunset scarlet ibis tour at Caroni. Everything below runs in Trinidad and Tobago dollars (TTD, roughly TT$6.8 to the US dollar), not the Eastern Caribbean dollar used on most neighboring islands.

Four Days in Trinidad and Tobago: Trinidad Plus a Tobago Taste Four days adds one real change to the 3-day Trinidad-only route : a crossing to Tobago. Days 1-3 stay the same Port of Spain, Maracas and Caroni run through Trinidad; Day 4 crosses to Tobago for a first taste of Crown Point and Store Bay before you fly home. Everything below runs in Trinidad and Tobago dollars (TTD, roughly TT$6.

Five Days in Trinidad and Tobago: An Actual Tobago Day Five days builds on the 4-day route with one real addition: a full day on Tobago’s reef instead of just a first-night taste. Everything below runs in Trinidad and Tobago dollars (TTD, roughly TT$6.8 to the US dollar).
