Corviglia, Corvatsch and Diavolezza Visitor Guide
The big sights around St. Moritz are the mountains themselves, and a handful of lifts and funiculars take you up to see them. This page answers the questions visitors ask most. Fares are adult returns in Swiss francs (CHF) for summer 2026, and each operator can change them for the next season.
Which peak is the highest?
Corvatsch, at 3,303 m. Piz Nair, above Corviglia, is next at about 3,056 m, and the restaurant at its top is given as about 3,057 m. Diavolezza’s terrace sits at 2,978 m and Muottas Muragl at 2,456 m.

What is open in the shoulder season?
Diavolezza’s cable car and Berghaus run daily until 15 November 2026 and then close until winter, which usually begins around 19 December. Corviglia opens early on 27 November 2026, but only for season-pass holders. The Chantarella to Corviglia and St. Moritz Dorf funiculars were overhauled in summer 2026, so the reopening date should be confirmed on mountains.ch before you plan a winter ride on them.
What is special about Muottas Muragl?
Its funicular dates from 1907 and climbs to 2,456 m. A hotel with 16 rooms and suites stands at the top, and in season the funicular keeps running until 23:00, so an evening visit is possible. The official site is muottasmuragl.ch .
Do rail and travel passes cover the lifts?
Not on the mountains.ch lifts: GA, Half Fare and Reka cards are not accepted. The Swiss Travel Pass does not cover Engadin cable cars either. The Mountain Railways Included offer, which ran from 1 May to 31 October 2026, gave guests at more than 100 partner properties rides on 13 lifts from the second night. It does not cover winter ski slopes. Whether it includes local buses or the RhB depends on the property. Dates for 2027 are not out.
How do I pick one?
Choose Corvatsch if you want the highest view and do not mind the highest fare. Choose Muottas Muragl for an evening visit or a meal at the top. Diavolezza costs CHF 18 less than Corvatsch and works well in the weeks before it closes in mid-November. Whatever you choose, go on a clear morning and carry a warm layer for the summit.
