Family Days in Polis: Beach, Boat, Museum
A family stay in Polis is simple and built around the sea. This page keeps to what is there: two beaches, one boat trip, one small museum and a short garden stop. The town is in Paphos District, about 35 km from Paphos, and prices are in euros.
A day at the beach
The Municipal Beach has deep golden sand and calm water. Toilets and showers are on site, and a Seatrac chair helps people reach the sea. It carries a Blue Flag for 2026. Lifeguards are on the beach from April to October, but cover has been patchy in some summers, so check for a lifeguard before swimming.
The Camping Site (Dasoudi) beach is a second choice with sand and pebbles and its own facilities. It sits on the road side and is not a walk from town. Take a car and beach shoes.
One boat trip
A Blue Lagoon cruise leaves from Latchi harbour and lasts roughly 2.5 to 3 hours. Children swim from the anchored boat. Lifejackets are offered by some operators, so ask when you book. Booking sites show basic trips from about 25 to 30 US dollars an adult. In summer, 11:00 to 14:00 is the busiest and hottest stretch.
A rainy hour at the museum
The Marion-Arsinoe museum, Leoforos Makariou III 26, is free to enter by VisitCyprus. It is small: two rooms and an atrium, with finds from the Neolithic to the Medieval period and from the necropolis. Hours are Monday to Friday 08:00 to 16:00 and Saturday 09:00 to 15:00, and it is closed on Sundays and public holidays. Check the posted times.
Baths of Aphrodite
The Baths are a short and free stop. There is a small grotto pool and a garden shaded by a fig tree. Children must stay out of the pool, as visitors are asked not to swim or wade in it. The trail from here runs 3 to 4 hours and has no drinking water, so it is a lot for small children.
Keep in mind
- The track beyond the Baths has steep drops and quad-bike accidents are frequent.
- Lara Bay is a protected turtle beach, reached by a rough track.
- Pack water, hats and sun cream for every outing.
- The sea is the main attraction here, so keep plans modest.
