Polis for Couples: Sea Views and Slow Evenings
Polis suits couples who want slow days rather than a full programme. The town is on the north-west coast of Cyprus in Paphos District, about 35 km from Paphos. There are not many set attractions, so the pleasures here are the water, the evening light and a good hotel. Prices are in euros.
Evenings on the water
The Latchi Queen runs a sunset trip from Latchi harbour to the Blue Lagoon, and Cyprus Mini Cruises lists sunset departures. Ask the operator for the current price and the departure time. For comparison, booking sites show daytime trips from about 25 to 30 US dollars an adult.
Where to stay
Anassa is a Thanos Hotels property at Asprokremmos beach near Neo Chorio, about 8 km west of Polis. A British Airways listing gives 166 rooms, suites and residences. A EUR 10 million refurbishment was completed in 2026. Compare current rates and room types before booking.
Harbour meals
Latchi has fish tavernas on the quayside, and they pair well with an evening trip. Pick the table that suits you on arrival.
A morning in the garden
The Baths of Aphrodite, about 11 km west of Polis, are a small grotto pool and botanical garden with a fig tree for shade. Entry is free. Visitors are asked to keep out of the pool, so make it a quiet walk. Go early or late in the day for cooler air.
A longer walk for two
The Aphrodite Nature Trail leaves from the Baths and circles back in 7.5 km, taking 3 to 4 hours. It passes the ruins of Pyrgos tis Rigainas and an old oak, with views to Cape Arnaoutis and Polis. The fountains on the way are not drinkable, so take water.
Swim and sun
The Municipal Beach, with deep golden sand and a 2026 Blue Flag, is the easier choice. The Camping Site (Dasoudi) beach has sand and pebbles. Lifeguards work both from April to October.
Keep in mind
Polis is quiet by design. If you want shops and sights within a short drive, Paphos is about 35 km away, and route 645 connects it to Polis in about an hour for about EUR 2. The track beyond the Baths toward Fontana Amorosa is rough, so go by tour, bike or boat rather than in a standard rental car.
