Family Days Out in Phuket
Wet days and hot days
Andamanda Phuket in Kathu has five zones named Pearl Palace, Coral World, Great Andaman Bay, Naga Jungle and Emerald Forest. Its official page counts 25 attractions, 36 lanes and 12 extreme slides across about 100,000 square metres. The Rolling Ripples lazy river runs 550 m, and the wave pool is 10,000 square metres. The park is about half an hour from Patong. The official page shows no base prices. An aggregator quotes 1,800 THB at the gate or 1,600 THB online for guests over 122 cm, about 1,200 THB (1,100 THB online) for ages between 91 and 121 cm and for seniors, and nothing for children up to 90 cm. It lists Park Zone hours of 10:00 to 18:00 and Emerald Forest hours of 10:00 to 19:00, so confirm on the official site .
Splash Jungle at Mai Khao shut for works from 1 June to 30 September 2026 and was due to reopen on 1 October. Adults pay about 1,000 to 1,050 THB and children about 700 to 750 THB, according to aggregators. Phone ahead on the day.
Animals, without the circus
- Phuket Aquarium, Cape Panwa (51 Sakdidej Road), is run by the Phuket Marine Biological Center. Look for the shark tunnel with blacktip and nurse sharks, reef tanks, ray pools, a touch pool and turtle care. Hours are about 08:30 to 16:30. Foreign adult tickets are reported anywhere from about 180 to 300 THB, with children about 100 to 150 THB, so budget the higher figure. The Phuket Expat Guide describes the exhibits.
- Soi Dog Foundation, Mai Khao, offers free tours only on weekdays, at 10:30 and 13:30. There is no booking, and the site has more than 1,800 dogs and cats. Cats are visited in the cattery at the end.
- Phuket Elephant Sanctuary, Paklok, lets guests watch rescued elephants from a canopy walkway. Nobody rides, bathes or feeds them. Adults from age 13 pay from 3,000 THB, and the child price is not published, so ask.
Steer your family away from elephant rides, tiger-cub photos and animal shows.
Fresh air
Sirinat National Park takes in Mai Khao and Nai Yang. Adults pay about 200 THB and children about 100 THB. The Mai Khao strip runs 9 to 10 km along the airport fence, so children can watch aircraft come in low. Sea turtles rarely nest there, so do not promise a sighting.
Bang Pae waterfall is about 10 to 15 minutes along a level path in Khao Phra Thaeo. The fee is about 200 THB for adults and 100 THB for children.
Beach time with young children
Gentle swimming on the west coast belongs to the dry season, about November to April. Even then, treat every beach with caution. Strong rip currents hit west-coast beaches during the May to October monsoon, and foreign visitors drown on them each year. Only swim between red-and-yellow flags, where lifeguards watch, and consider a red flag a no-swimming day. Some beaches have neither flags nor lifeguards. Stay close enough to touch your child in the water. Dengue and sudden floods occur in the rainy season, and the tap water is unsafe to drink.
