Krabi Adventure Tours by Difficulty and Price
The right Krabi adventure tour depends less on what you want to see than on how hard you want to work and how long you can sit in a boat. Here they are from gentle to gruelling, with typical prices and the fees that come on top.
Easy: Four Islands by longtail
The half-day Four Islands trip is the softest adventure on offer. A wooden longtail visits Koh Poda, Chicken Island, Koh Tub and Phra Nang Cave Beach, and at low tide you can walk the white sandbar of Talay Waek, the “divided sea”, between Chicken, Tub and Mor islands. Snorkelling at Koh Poda is the active part. Expect about ฿800 to ฿1,200 per person with a lunch box and snorkel gear, plus a national park fee. Suits: anyone, including nervous swimmers in life jackets. See Four Islands longtail trips on GetYourGuide for departure times.
Easy to moderate: Phang Nga Bay by sea canoe
This trip leaves Krabi province for neighbouring Phang Nga, where sea canoes slip through low cave tunnels into hongs, the hidden open-roofed lagoons inside limestone islands. The day usually takes in Ko Tapu, known as James Bond Island, and the floating Muslim village of Koh Panyee. The effort is low, but the transfer is long, so ask about road time before booking.
Moderate: Hong Islands by speedboat
The full-day Hong Islands speedboat tour, about ฿1,400 to ฿2,000 per person with lunch and snorkel gear, enters the enclosed lagoon on Koh Hong through a cliff gap and then tackles the viewpoint stairway, roughly 400 steps up to a deck over the bay. The climb is short but steep and sunny. The islands are part of Than Bok Khorani National Park, and the landing fee is quoted at ฿300 to ฿400 depending on the source. Compare Hong Islands speedboat tours on Viator and check whether the viewpoint is on the route.
Moderate to hard: Phi Phi by speedboat
The Phi Phi day is long and the open-sea crossing can be rough, which makes it more tiring than its photos suggest. Tours cost about ฿1,500 to ฿2,500 per person and usually include Pileh Lagoon, where you jump from the boat into the water, Monkey Beach and snorkelling at Viking Cave. The marine park fee, about ฿400 for foreign adults, is paid separately, and the park’s rules are on Thai National Parks . Maya Bay is closed to landings from 1 August to 30 September every year under a park closure dates , and swimming there is banned all year.
Verdict: if seasickness worries you, pick the Hong Islands over Phi Phi. The scenery is as strong, and the time on open water is shorter.
Hard: the Dragon Crest trail
Tab Kak Hang Nak, nicknamed Dragon Crest, is a strenuous jungle hike from near Tubkaek Beach, through bamboo groves and over rocky ridges, to a rock ledge high above the karst. It takes a few hours, and the cost is mostly the transport to the trailhead. A local guide is a sensible spend if you are unsure of the route or hiking alone. Start at first light and carry at least two litres of water.
Safety and season
From May to October, the monsoon brings swells that cancel boat tours at short notice. Every passenger needs a life jacket, and overloaded boats are a leading cause of accidents on this coast, as the UK government safety advice for Thailand notes.

Tip: ask your operator whether the national park fee is in the quoted price before you hand over cash, since it can add ฿300 to ฿400 per person on the island tours.
