Chobe Safari and Falls Tours Near Kazungula
The attractions people book tours for near Kazungula are Chobe National Park, the Chobe River, Victoria Falls, Livingstone Island and the Namibian island of Impalila. This page walks through each one, with the practical details that decide whether a tour is good value: price, park fees, border time and season.
What a Chobe safari involves
A guided safari goes into the park from Kasane through Sedudu Gate, in Botswana. Operators often schedule the drive for the afternoon, about 3:00 to 6:00 pm. Elephants dominate the sightings, with lions, leopards and buffalo also seen regularly. Rhino are essentially absent, so a promise of the Big Five on a Chobe tour should be ignored. Visitors pay a daily park fee of about BWP 270 per adult from April 2026. Children from 8 to 17 pay about half, and those under 8 pay nothing. Ask the operator whether the fee sits inside the tour price.
Chobe river cruise prices
Operator listings show a half-day Chobe cruise from about US$94 to US$99 per person, and cruise packages that include hotel pickup from around US$166. Treat them as ballpark figures. A cruise runs about three hours and the park fee still applies, so a cheap quote may leave the fee out.
Kasane to Victoria Falls
Operators sell a day tour from Kasane to Victoria Falls. The distance is 80 to 90 km, and with the border crossing the journey takes about one and a half to two hours each way. Check which side you will see. The Zambian side is Mosi-oa-Tunya National Park and the Zimbabwean side is the town of Victoria Falls. Bring your passport and allow for queues at the border.
Livingstone Island and Devil’s Pool
Livingstone Island tours are run from the Zambian side, and a guide is compulsory. The pool is usually open for swimming from about mid-August to mid-January, depending on the water level, and the tours can still go ahead when it is shut, when operators offer Angel’s Pool.
Impalila Island by boat
A boat from Kasane takes about 15 minutes to reach Impalila Island in Namibia. Immigration is processed at Kasane, so keep documents handy. Birders go for Pel’s fishing owl and white-backed night heron.
Visa points for tour days
UK passport holders do not need a visa for 90 days in Zambia or Botswana. For nationalities that do need a Zambian visa, the KAZA UniVisa costs US$50 and lasts 30 days, and it covers day trips into Botswana through Kazungula, but not overnight stays there. Passports must be valid six months beyond arrival, with two blank pages for Zambia and three for Botswana. Because the process for applying changes, confirm it before you travel.
